You're entitled to your opinion, and you probably think it's right. But unfortunately, everyone else will probably think you're wrong. Granted, he probably does make too much for the kind of stats he produces. But Battier's contribution goes beyond stats. You say none of them Dookies are really winners, and I agree with you. They produce good pros, but probably more of them have flamed out than have gone on to become successful, but outside of Grant Hill, Battier is the one who I can definitely say is a winner. He might not produce the stats, but you'll be hard-pressed to find a smarter player who finds ways to help his team win that doesn't show up in the box score. Don't believe me? Randomly pick 5 games from last season and go watch them. Keep your eyes on Battier alone. I think you'll be surprised at the little things he does that most people miss out. Be it setting a screen that isn't even supposed to be part of the offense so a teammate can get that 1 extra second of open look, or totally screening his guy out so another teammate can get the rebound. Those things go beyond the obvious that you see. Perhaps he should shoot more. But please find me an instance where he has taken a bad shot, outside of when the clock's winding down? Would you rather him be a black hole and jack a 3 up everytime he gets the ball in a corner? Trust me, I hated the Battier for Stromile and Gay trade as much as anyone when it first happened, but it's clear that you won't find a coach in this league who doesn't want to have Battier on their team.
well why would you want opinions on who to trade after one game when adelman made it clear 10 players would play each game....we have 18. Do the math.
I think Snyder might be a goner too. Harris appears to be Snyder's equal athletically but with Chuck Hayes' hustle and nose for the ball.
I miss JVG. He always gets the win when we need him in the preseason. Anyways, judging from the game tonight, we should trade___ for Bowen. That kid was Killing us!
I dont think Novak will go. Novak can fit pretty well under Adelmans offense. Most likely gone JL3, Sura, Snyder, Justin Reed n Landry.
We have 19 players on our pre-season roster, unless you want everyone playing 5 minutes, some people are going to have to sit out for others to get sufficient playing time to show what they can actually do.
The only feeling I got is that Harris has panned out more so than Landry at this point. At least in this offense. I do have relatively high expectations for Landry though. Loved him in college.
He knows nothing about the Rockets too. Earlier today he said Yao has less than 1 BLK/game when Yao averages almost 2 blks per game.
Cavs have a $2.091M TE from when they traded Luke Jackson. Snyder contract is for $2.358M. I forget if the the +/-25% counts when trades are made using a TE. http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/sports/119122850162110.xml&coll=2 October 01, 2007 http://www.ohio.com/sports/10407602.html Oct 10, 2007 Maybe Reed or Butler to Bobcats. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...s.ap/index.html http://www.euroleague.net/news/i/15896/180 I think the roster could end up like this: James, Francis, Rafer, Brooks TMac, Bonzi, Head, Snyder* Battier, (TMac), Harris, (Snyder)* Scola, Hayes, (Harris), Landry* Yao, Deke, (Hayes), Butler* *2 players to be omitted
I could understand you not liking the Gay part of the trade since you felt the team gave up "future potential" for Battier. You should be happy the team was able to unload Swift like they did since he is now considered one of the biggest underachievers in NBA history. That being said, letting him go one way or another was addition by subtraction for the Rockets. For the most part, I felt that getting rid of his big contract was important. Keep in mind that if the Rockets were able to draft Brandon Roy in 2006 (the player they really wanted in that draft), I wonder how much trouble they would have had in trading away Swift.
It's not that you want opinions, it's that your thread title suggests you are going to give and opinion about who we will trade. ANd instead you are requesting opinions and you haven't even seen the game. It's misleading at the least ( iexpected answers and not questions) and pisses people off to the point they want to call you moron and other obscenities. It's like you wasted there time because they clicked on your thread only to find nothing. This could have been better served in the game thread as a request. But still it doesn't make you a moron.
Rafer looked so good in the free flow offense one wonders if Phoenix would trade us Banks (to dump his nasty contract) along with the Hawks pick for Alston and a combo of Snyder, Landry, Novak, Harris and Head. But after tonight I don't know If I want to part with the guy so hastily. As crazy as it sounds...
I'm gonna have to agree with you guys on this, as well as disagree. Not a big battier fan by any means but trading him seems counterproductive. Despite the fact that we gave up too much to get him (potential all-star in Gay, btw could you imagine him in this system) he does contribute to wins, and i don't think anyone other than the jvg led rockets are stupid enough to give up a player who has an equal impact on the w column return for him. Basically what i'm tryin to say is despite the fact that hes overrated he does add value to our team, and we aren't getting anything remotely close to that value back for a consummate role player. I know, doesn't really make sense to me either.
