when it comes to credible sources it's always best to take bonzi wells' opinion over the heaps of former players who love van gundy.

i think well's may have some accurate information there but perhaps if he actually manned up, lost some weight, and gained some accountability, he could have played under van gundy.

HOw can you let someone play their way into shape if they're injured? BOnzi's an idiot. Go back to Ball State Bonzi and join your broadcaster friend.

Funny you say that, because historically. Adelman plays 7.5 guys. We'd be lucky to go 8.5 deep during the season. HIs playoff rotation is no more than 8 guys for sure, just like JVG. And he doesn't play rookies either.

    Good point.

Adelman's excuse for bad defense: Not enough defensive players
JVG's excuse for bad offense: Not enough offensive players

JVG is a genius of team defense. He knows how to utilize everybody to play defense. But he doesn't know how to utilize players to play good offense.

According to a post in another thread, JVG never had an above average offensive team. Adelman never had a below average offensive team.

I am one of the biggest anti-JVG guys around, no hiding that, and I am convince that the team is better off without his ego on the sidelines.

That being said.......I do not EVER question his committment, JVG worked his butt off, I just don't agree with his evaluation of players or his preferred style of basketball.

I think both JVG and Bonzi were to blame for last year's tiff between them....Bonzi for being a tub of goo, JVG for being stubborn poo.

I don't think these are cheap shots at all, well not anymore than JVG saying that having Big Jake would give V-Span someone to b**** too...

You reap what you sew.....JVG is just getting a bit of his own medicine.

RA's Blazers team is pretty good in defense
last year beside T-Mac and Yao (Lucas too and 25% of Wells)
we got no one who can create offense
VSpan maybe if he doesn't turn the ball over most of the time

Well obviously. I'm just speaking from a historical perspective. Rookies make mistakes, and mistakes cause losses. I don't play young guys when I'm coaching middle school until the game's out of reach. You do what you have to do to win.

I'd like to know where MrButtocks got his lines of "excuses and responses."

From what I read here, I see it hardly supports MrButtocks' claim.

It's like a bad relationship. at the end, you feel you've waste four years of your life. Letting go is hard, I'm trying to think of the good moments with JVG, but none comes to mind.

Wow, you're quite a stoic. I'm sure you were one of the hundreds of people on this board who thought we were winning the championship last year and in 2005. My how things change, bandwagoners.

There four types of NBA players:

    1) stars, playing good offense and good defense.

    2) good NBA players, playing good offense, bad defense.

    3) medicre players, having no offensive ability, but willing to play defense.

    4) Rafer-like players, having no ability to play both defense and offense.

    2) >3)

    Adelman > JVG.

Yes, I agree when your star center makes remarks like Yao the coach is toast. All JVG needed was for T-mac to start making similar remarks. Yao is quiet but his fustrations boiled over and he spoke his mind about JVG and if you read the entire article it shows that the players knew JVG was facing termination by the end of the season.

The guy was the wrong coach for this team. He'd probably be great for a team like Portland where you need a coach that will set a hard standard for mostly rookies. Problem is JVG wouldn't play any of them because they are rookies he'd trade away promising young guys for guys like Juwan Howard.

If Rafer can't do both, then he shouldn't be in the league. He shouldn't have gotten a full ride to Fresno. Heck, he shouldn't have been playing on the streets. 3 years ago Rafer was a top 10 point guard in the league. And you say he didn't belong in the league? It's okay, we're all lacking in intelligence sometimes.

I think he probably got it from here.

The party line is that the Maloofs wanted more of a defensive-oriented coach. Adelman suggested if that was what they wanted, they should have given him more defensive-minded players.

"We didn't have defensive players," Adelman said. "It's as simple as that. We haven't had defensive players the last two or three years. If you want a defensive team, then go trade for defensive players. Go get (players) like San Antonio has or Detroit has. I don't apologize for any of that. That team we had (in 2002-03) with Jimmy Jackson, Hedo (Turkoglu), Peja (Stojakovic), we had a lot of (defensive) flexibility on that team and we had the best (opponents field-goal percentage) in the league. And we just didn't decide to go away from that."

Yao is an idiot. Play the game Yao, you're not the coach. People on this board can't seem to grasp this concept: IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PLAY MORE THAN 8 GUYS IN THE PLAYOFFS! Especially with our lack of depth, we needed our starters on the court as much as possible. If we put Snyder in their, then that means less minutes for Battier and McGrady. Use your brain Yao, it is big, isn't it?
