It seems like two cuts are between four players: Steve Novak, Kirk Snyder, Carl Landry, and Mike Harris. (Some of you guys are including Jackie Butler or Luther Head. I don't know what you guys are thinking, but they are pretty much locks to make this team)

So far, these three are surely gone...
    Bobby Sura
    John Lucas III
    Justin Reed

Now down to the last two cuts, most likely between four players:

    Steve Novak
    Why he should stay...
-He gives the roster versatility at the 4 position (he is a shooter, in contrast to Scola and Hayes as "banging" power forwards)
-He has the potential to be the BEST shooter in the league
-His shooting spreads out the defense for Yao and Tracy

    Why he should go...
-Last year, he looked lost during the games
-Outside of shooting, he provides nothing else special
-His defense and rebounding is below average

    Kirk Snyder
    Why Snyder should stay...
    -He's an incredible athlete
    -He's a good defender
-He's a good finisher around the basket
-Overall, his style of play complements Adelman's system
-If we cut him, its very likely that he'll thrive on another team, making us look stupid
-If Bonzi leaves next season, Kirk can be an immediate replacement for him

    Why he should go...
-Its hard to find him minutes this season with our depth
    -His jumpshot is shaky

    Mike Harris
    Why Harris should stay...
-He's been getting lots of praise
-He can play the 4 and 3 position
-He provides a lot of energy
-As a power forward, he still has a jumpshot from the outside

    Why he should go...
-He did little for his previous NBA team, the Milwaukee Bucks
-He is undersized for the power forward position
-Like him, Chuck Hayes also provides energy

    Carl Landry
    Why he should stay...
    -He's a TRUE power forward
-He seems to be a hard-working, blue-collar player
    -We just recently signed him

    Why he should go...
    -He's just an unproven rookie
-His potential and style of play is unknown
-He seems to be a clone of Chuck Hayes (undersized hustle player)
-There are already two other rookies on this team
-He'll contribute very little this season
-Seems to be Mike Harris > Landry

From my list, I've concluded that Snyder WILL make the team and Landry WILL NOT make the team. IMO, now its between Novak and Harris for the last spot...

Harris is guaranteed 50k. Rockets originally offered Landry a similiar deal to what Harris got until his agent made a big fuss to the media.

I agree with you but I think that Snyder will surely stay in my opinion.
Even Daryl said that Snyder is most athletic guy on this team after T-Mac and one of the best finishers at the basket.
Reed will likely be goner but he has enormous salary
But when you think over and over we're lucky team because we decide between super players and lot of the teams in the league can only wish that...

We Need to do one of the following trades with Atlanta.
    Snyder+Reed for Lorenzen Wright OR
    Snyder+Lucas+Novak for Lorenzen Wright.
Wright is a big body who can play 4 and 5 and can rebound.
    We cut down bodies.
If we do the 1st trade , then we waive Sura , Lucas and one of Harris , Landry or Novak.
If we do the 2nd trade we waive Sura.

Atlanta has no need for either Snyder or Reed. They are already overstocked with wing players (Joe Johnson, Josh Childress, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, etc.). That being said, Lorenzen Wright was a guy that I was looking at as a nice trade target. Wright is a decent defender and can run the floor at the 5 in an up-tempo lineup. If the Rockets can pull off a 2-for-1 to get Wright, I'd be happy.

I'm ok with the Wright trade..maybe with a bunch of excess players, we can also get Childress..for sure Alston will be included...We can also go for Ratliff of the T-Wolves...We can buy him out if he's not gonna play..After watching nba europe live, I think they really need a true PG..Foye is a ben gordon type of player..Jaric and Telfair won't do the job either..

Snyder should stay, because if McGrady or Wells gets hurt for an extended period of time (very likely) we should have an extra wing player with size.

Between Harris, Novak, and Landry, I like Harris the most. But he's such a tweener, I'm not sure how he'll play against real NBA competition. He's also the c cheapest to let go, I think.

Novak does only one thing well, and everything else was pretty terrible last year. Landry gives us an extra big man, but nothing really stands out with him.

It will be determined in preseason. Hopefully they all get a chance to prove themselves.

I can't say that I agree with you completely. I think they'll decide between Snyder/Harris and then between Novak/Landry. I agree that Snyder will probly make the team but I don't think Landry will get cut. Too many people have been saying that Landry is a clone of Chuck Hayes and anybody that has said that hasn't been watching anything. Hayes may have an edge on Landry from a rebounding/defense perspective but I think that's somethin that comes with experience. Landry has a really good offensive game, not to mention pretty good range when it comes to shooting the jumper. So please everybody that reads this quit sayin Landry and Hayes are the same because they're not. Plus it wouldn't be very smart of the Rockets to sign Landry and then cut him because then they lose his rights. I think he'll make the team.

I agree we should do trades instead of cutting for nothing.
Boston probably need more hands. Too bad they don't have anything to offer.

I agree that Hayes and Landry are not entirely the same. I was just trying to make the point that the things that Landry does well, providing energy and hustle, are what Hayes also specializes in, so there's no use keeping both. Just like last year when Ryan Bowen was cut, because we acquired Shane Battier. Landry DOES have a better offensive game than Hayes, but I guess I forgot to mention that Scola would cover that aspect of his game as well. Right now, Scola and Hayes seem to be locks on this team as the power forwards for many more years to come, so I just kinda ruled out Landry out because I haven't seem enough out of him yet. Of course, it was seem foolish to cut him right after we just signed him, but this is a tough roster to trim down. Just my opinion. :)

Try to make trades to trim the roster down - if not possible, cut Sura, JL3, Reed, Landry, Harris.

It is obvious. Bob Sura, John Lucas III, Mike Harris, Carl Landry will be gone.
