Ok, my hard drive is brand new, so I can't expect it to be the culprit, unless it was placed on there. But I keep getting a spam "message alert every 3-5 minutes saying I have a serious system error and to go to a website that, of course, will do the check for free, but will want me to pay. Is there any way to get this crap removed? It is annoying as hell.
yeah, quit downloading illegal stuff. There is a file that is running your task manager that you need to end. first, goto msconfig and then goto the startup tab. There is a file that you need to uncheck to stop this file. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the file. I looks like an important file, (something like "system32" or something). Anyways, a virus scanner won't pick it up since its not a virus. Its a program running in the background.
same thing happened to me the other day, probably same virus. if you just got this virus within the last few days all you have to do is a system restore. your computer makes daily checkpoints and it you can take yourself back to a check point within the the last 30 days, prior to getting the virus...i did it and it completely removed my virus Go to, Start-Progams-Accessories-System Tools-System Restore
Did that, to no avail. Worst part is that it allows the computer to go to "blue screen of death" mode which needs to be booted up, also. I've checked my computer. I'm at about 35% of storage. There is no reason for this to be going on with a computer harddrive less than two months old, unless the reason I got it for this price was due to the fact that they hardwired this virus onto it. I'd like to say it was due to p*rn, but I treat this laptop with kid gloves, wheras I treat my desktop like the b**** that she is, so that ain't the problem. BTW, anyone want to sell a desktop CPU cheap?
Once again, this isn't a virus. Its a program being loaded when you boot up and runs in the background. no virus scan or adware program will pick it up. I've had this same exact thing. You just have to find the program.
Don't get me wrong. I look at p*rn, on occasion. But not from this computer. That is why it is irritating. I write business on my laptop, and this program has deleted stuff that dictates my livelihood.
Easy way is to go here and do an online scan to see if it's serious: http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner If it detects something, then download their free 30 day trial to get rid of it. If not, then you're going to have to get an adware scanner and do some steps to remove it. Too bad search is down.
Best way to clean out yoru whole system and check for all types of viruses is to go to this website and follow step by step details (dont skip any steps): http://esupport.trendmicro.com/support/viewxml.do?ContentID=en-125991 Step 2 & 3 will tell you to download a certain file (it gives you a link to d/l it) so make sure you download those files (particulary step 3) for the proper operating system you are using. You have to run this virus cleaner in safe mode but dont worry that website will tell you what to do step by step with screen shots. I had some serious viruses on my computer and I ran this cleaner and it has made a huge difference to my computer, it should help you find any undetectable files that are screwing up your system. (fyi the whole scan takes roughly an hour or so to run in safe mode so just run the scan and leave your computer be until it finishes running) Hope this helps
I just got a pop up window by ZA informing that I have a keylogger virus in my pc, that's very serious to me because all my accounts could get hack. So to be really save, what I did is back up all the important stuff and roll back using trueimage. That took me all night to do it, I wasted at least 7 hours because of it. Better be save than sorry.
no, its just a pain in the ass. Mine came from a program that I downloaded off of limewire. Do you recall downloading anything and running it but it never worked? Goto "start" --> "run" --> and type in "msconfig" Goto the "startup" tab uncheck everything. Its ok to do this. You can go back in later and check everything and it will work fine. Save and reboot. If that fixes your problem, then its one of those programs in that list.
