That was before Harris showed up and tore his way through summer league. Landry MIGHT have been higher on Morey's radar at the time of the draft, but we're talking about right now, where there are just too many players ahead of him on the productivity scale.

Novak is by no means a keeper. Did you see him in the Summer League? He should have dominated, and he sure as hell didn't.

Synder has to be in, Novak has to be out.

Novak has no place here anymore unless he learns how to pass.

I would keep Harris. (I personnally think he is better than Hayes. Same size, better athleticizm, better offense. Same hustle. Probably could play some 3 as well as the 4.)

    Cut:
    1. JL3
    2. Sura
    3. Novak
    4. Landry
    5. Snyder

    In that order.

Actually, Harris is smaller than Hayes. He is about 1 inch shorter, but the main reason why he is smaller is Hayes has a huge lower body. That allows Hayes to at least impede the progress of guys like Boozer. Harris would get pushed back easily. Also, Hayes is a better rebounder. However, Harris can definitely play the 3. I see him as competing with Novak for the utility 3/4 role. Reed also can play the 3/4. Apparently he has been tearing down rebounds in scrimmages. So basically we have 3 guys (Harris, Novak, Reed) going for the 3/4 utility role. From what I have seen and heard so far I vote Harris.

We have to cut 5 guys,

    Sura..duh, JL3...duh,
Justin Reed, buy out and he's not better than others at his spot
Novak, I hate to see him get cut because I think he could get better, but there's just no room as much proven talent this team has now.
Mike Harris, as good as he may have been in summer league and practice, he hasn't faced the grind of an 82 game season. The only way I see Harris staying is if we are able to make a 2 for 1 type trade to open a roster spot.

No way Landry gets cut. We traded to get his rights in the first place and if he was going to get cut, then why sign him in the first place when they could let him go play in Europe and keep his rights like SA did with Scola. As much as the team went through to get him, that would be small black eye for Morey to come out of it empty handed.

Synder stays just because of 08-09 season. No way Bonzi stays after this season unless we show him the money. Same for Butler, with his "potential" tag, plus Deke's gone after this season. Butler isn't that old and he never played college, it's possible that he could get better but he's insurance in case Deke or Yao goes down.

You know it's nice being able to talk about having to cut quality ball players instead of hoping to get quality ball players for the Rockets.

Being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
What BS. To say we don't need a PG distributor is nonsense when there's 4 other scorers on the court.
First of all, that's not Francis' or James' jurisdiction. If they're going to allow themselves to become distractions by b****ing about playing time with their so called "strong personalities/attitudes", then they won't be playing much. I wouldn't mind having Alston start and Brooks coming off the bench. We'd still be a solid team. Adelman's no JVG, but he's not going to let players step on him.

When its all said and done, there will be TWO quality players cut (or traded) from this team. Novak, Snyder, Harris, and Landry all can find roles on other teams, and we might be left regretting letting them go.

Teams can't force a player to head overseas.

Reportedly Isaiah Thomas wanted Demetris Nichols to head overseas but Nichols wanted to say in the US. It wouldn't be right to stop a guy from gaining employment so the only choices were to waive him or sign him. They signed him.

The Pacers gave up more (Two picks + cash) for James White than the Rockets did for Landry. White was waived before opening night.

I don't see how it would be a black eye for morey at all. Rockets didn't have Scola then. PF depth was Hayes and Novak. It was a necessary move at the time.

Sure to be cut are Sura, Lucas, and Reed. Alston won't be cut out right. He'll be either kept or traded. That leaves one more cut among (in order of likelihood):

    Harris
    Novak
    Landry
    Snyder

The Pacers are also probably the worst managed team in the NBA. They traded 2 starters to Golden State for Dunleavy and Murphy. Look what that did for the Warriors. I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to be associated with the Pacers franchise in any way.

It was just an example. I was just pointing out second rounders getting waived before opening night isn't unheard of. Anyway the Pacers gave White a guaranteed contract while Landry got a partially guaranteed deal so Morey's already safely one distinction away from Larry Bird.

The fact too though is that Snyder will get next to no playing time in this rotation. You'd expect one of the point guards, Head and Wells to be ahead of him in the rotation at the 2 or the 3, so unless an injury occurs, Snyder will warm the bench like Novak.

Novak has the ability to make three pointers though, and that says something. With any of Adelman's teams, count on us to shoot a lot of threes, maybe as much as we did last year, and Novak will aid us better than Snyder in that regard.

I just wasn't a big enough fan of Snyder last season to want him around now, I guess.
