well obviously this season is gonna be huge for Tmac as far as his legacy is concerned and i have full faith that he won't dis-a-point.
hate to say it, but up to this point i dont think he deserves the nod. not saying he has to win multiple championships, but he really, really, really needs to get out of the first round.
Don't forget that T-mac still has at least five years to state his case, maybe eight if his back holds up. If we judged Drexler purely based on the first half of his career, he might not be HOF-worthy either. So give T-mac some time, the Rockets are only getting better from here on.
now NO. but u gotta remember, he has 6 all-nba selections already but playoff failures hurt him BADLY. but given 4-5 more yrs, if he has SOME playoff success, he'll be a shoo-in. the first round thing is keeping him out that is all. nothing else.
in fact, if he wins 1-2 rings, he won't just be a shoo-in for the HOF, but will be considered one of the greatest of all time, probably move him into the top 20 players of all time. but maybe reaching WCF consistently a few times, he'll be in for sure.
Still early at this point. He's probably a borderline YES right now, but a deep postseason run should push him into the unanimous YES zone where the voters are concerned.
In this league, stats dont matter. Rings and playoff success are usually the thing people will look at first and will likely remember that person by. Thats unfortunate because Tmac (if you take away his first couple of years in Toronto) has definite hall of fame stats. But because he has never made it past the first round people use that against him all the time, and unfortnately, it makes sense. If the Rockets can get atleast to the Western conference semis then I think Tracy Mcgrady can finally get some praise. Plus, with that mental hurdle out of his mind, Tmac may finally reach his full potential. I would give my life (not really but you know) to see that happen, just for the sake of Tmac, because he's my homeboy and one of the most underated player, and also one of the most underachieving players of all time.
Right now, no. If he carries the team deep into the playoffs and maybe wing a ring or two, he'd def needs to be considered. Unfortunately for now, just scoring points ain't gonna cut it.
Basketball hall of fame lets in high school players and coaches correct? I think he's had a career well enough to make it in. There a good number of players without rings or much playoff success that have made it in so I fail to see why he shouldn't get the nod.
Other high school players or coaches must do something special in their life. The point is that TMac has not passed the first round playoff, which would be a high question marker in the votes, but he will be qulified a HOF after this year just like others said.
Well if we can't get out of the first round at least with Tracy he'll be lucky to get his JERSEY retired. Same with Yao.
Obviously, NO. He's a great talented player, but i don't know if he'll ever be HOF material from his underachieving career up to now. Even if he goes out and wins one or two championships for us, I'm not sure.
No chance he plays 8 more years. That said, I, too, think he's got to get some sort of playoff success before he could be considered HOF worthy. This isn't like baseball where only a handful of teams get in the playoffs and where 1 player can make all the difference. McGrady is an all-time great talent. To be a HOF'er, you gotta do more. If the Rox win a title with him leading the charge (please Jebus...make it happen), he's in.
Im kind of on the fence right now, but I have to believe if he "wins one or two championships" he would be a safe bet. How many did Barkley or Dominique win?
