If we can win and only play Yao 30 minutes then I am all for trying it. Add Tracy in there, too. We/Adelman are going to be able to stretch it out there to see if it is possible. I think he even said as much in one of Clutch's interviews. I have to believe that was in Morey's and Les's mindset when they signed all these scorer's up this summer.

If we can do it then why not?

You're right. With the personnel that's on this team this year, I think Yao CAN be limited to 30 minutes a night. Years past, there weren't players that can spell Yao for a long duration without the Rockets having to sacrifice some offense. Now with Francis and James picking up some of the scoring and Scola and Butler here, I think Yao should be able to rest a bit more...McGrady included.

I'm not so sure on Rafer but let's see. If he's still on the team maybe so. But AB won't be doing much early on because he's a rookie and better players are in front of him. During the season, maybe AB can play his way in but I doubt it.

It's not about not let Yao have a break, he has to get used to play certain minutes, say ~34min/game, or he won't be effective when the team need that big minutes from him. The coaches have to strike a balance, not play him/Tmac too much to be exhausted, and play them enough so their bodies get accustom to the long minutes when playoff is here.

Head will not see much playtime if he is not traded, consider how many PG guards we have already. He is a SG, but just too small to play in today's NBA.

Not according to Adelman. In the Day 3 interview, he praised Head's play in the offense highly.

I agree. I think him, Reed and Novak, and of course Lucas, are probably all goners. The Rockets will likely keep Alston, James, and Francis around for PG, and then see what can happen at the trade deadline if one of them is underperforming.

Don't be surprised when Luther continues to nail 3s at a high percentage for the Rox this year.

OK then what is your best shot at a 8-9 man rotation? And don't give me "Adelman will decide based on performance". Of course, we all know that. This is a fan forum for opinions. You seem pretty happy to share your opinion so go ahead. I'm sure you'll come up with some bad NBA math on the minutes just like you did with your approximate scoring averages thread.
