Mac says he lost a few pounds...does anybody think that he looks a little slimmer? I thought he kind of did, but maybe it was just the power of suggestion.
he said he was at 230-SOMETHING last yr. so he wasn't exactly at 230. so for him to be down to 225 going into training camp, that's a great sign. we need to have him have a pep in his step. w/ him playing off the ball and doing a lot of cutting and looking to score more, he needs to regain that quickness and explosiveness of at least in 04-05.
Do you really think Alston can be considered offensive firepower at all, let alone so much so that he gets mentioned twice??
ok chalk me up for being glad that mike james is back his interview alone shows exactly the type of "swagger" that the team was lacking the past two years. you need those type of mentally strong type people on this team. imagine if sura was actually playing again the three headed PG of sura, james and francis would have been crazy
u don't know until u see his body in jerseys. last yr, his arms and shoulders were kinda big. in his first season in orlando, he looks very slim. if he looks like in 04-05, we should be fine. but he admitted he is lighter and quicker.
"Some people have been the man on other teams, they have to sacrifice something" Mac talking bout Stevie Franchise there? LOL, kidding. He probably just means it in a nonchalant way.
I think he can be a good scorer. as long as he dosent take silly shots. he's role cannot be underestimated. he is the only real playmaker besides tracy we have. I meant battier in one of those alston names. alston and battier.
Alston a good scorer? LOL. Alston and good scorer don't ever belong in the same sentence. I'll give you that he's decent at hitting his open 3s and finishing breaks, but that's about it. Decent. Until he learns to hit that midrange shot at a reasonable clip and to finish at the rim, he's nowhere near a poor scorer, much less a decent or good one. The problem with Rafer at the rim is that when he drives, it almost seems like he's scared of contact. Point guards like Iverson throw themselves at the defence and force the refs to call fouls when they drive. They don't even have to be athletic. Mike Bibby can't jump for nuts, but he's a pretty good finisher inside. Why? Cuz he uses his body well. When Alston drives, he doesn't use his body to protect the ball for one thing, he goes AWAY from the contact for the other. That leads to him not being able to, or not willing to get in all the way, and the best he can do is to chuck up a teardrop, which he ain't no Tony Parker at. That's the problem with his Skip to My Lou tag. He can handle the heck out of the rock and is a fastbreak whiz, but he can't finish for nuts when the lane is not wide open. This is the NBA, you aren't gonna go in there and expect an open lane 98% of the time.
Yikes. I remember last year Deke was pondering retirement, but decided against it when he went up against some of the players at Georgetown and outran them up the court. Something tells me he didn't quite have that litmus test this summer.
That is freaking awsome. Thanks alot pryuen. It is times like these when we truely realize how great this website is and how lucky we are to be part of this community. So did you take all those pictures? I always thought you lived in China.
http://www.clutchfans.net/news/1437/2007_training_camp_day_1/ Typical Rafer, typical Clutch. There goes the best replacement of VSpan for promoting Rockets' Holiday Packs in that Christmas jingle (12 days of Christmas??)!
You're correct; I live in Hong Kong, China, and I work in Guangdong, China. I did not take these photos myself. There is something called Internet....and there are Chinese reporters from different Chinese websites sent to live and work in Houston;and these photos are what I managed to download from the various Chinese websites I frequented.
