I am thinking about finally buying a expensive watch. I wanna get the Rolex stain less steel Sea Dweller. it took me along time to save enough money to buy it.

Anyone else own a cool watch? I figure a man has got to own something once in his life to remind him of all the work he has put into to. house, car, watch, etc

I read a story a while back about how the watch industry is dying since kids these days don't really wear them anymore. Reason is they get their time from things like their cell phones, and mp3 players instead.

    I have two swiss Watches.

I have a Rolex Yacht Master

    and a Swiss Army chronograph

    ....I love em both.

The Swiss Army keeps better time, but the Rolex is SWEET looking.

    An oldie but goodie....the Submariner.

The Seadweller is sweet, but if the Sub works for your size and look run with it.

It takes a licking but keeps on ticking. You can bang this sucker into everything and it just keeps on a rollin....stainless steel with the black face.

I'm not a huge Rolex fan, but here is some advice for you if you want to buy a one.. Stay away from the 31 jewel movements the 44 movements are a much better ticker.. Also, some of the better Rolex prices you can find online are HERE

Don't forget your automatic will need to be serviced every few years and that will add to the total cost of the watch..

Also, don't be fooled into buying a high end watch with a quartz movement, the idea of buying an intricate time peace is just that, an engineering marvel not a candy coated cracker jack movement..

    Good luck and have fun!

They are nice but don't hold their value all that well, because there are so many of them out there.

Also, the bevel of the watch is plastic on that brand and tends to break.

I'm a James Bond fan and was looking for a real quality watch, so I bought myself an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean. I love it. It's got a timeless look about it. At 45mm it's about the biggest watch out there too.

That's a silly thing for a watch to have.

Watches are a vice of mine though I haven't bought a new one
    in a while:

    Cartier Santos Stainless
    Bvlgari Aluminum
    Tachmeister 1937 (WWII U-Boat Watch)
Rubber Super sized Swatch (for running)
    Rolex Daytona stainless

I'm actually giving my Santos away and getting the
    Santos 100, which is gorgeous.

    Self-winding (Automatic) LINK

    Quartz LINK

What it boils down to is quartz keeps better time and runs on a battery and crystals with little to no moving parts.. An automatic watch runs off of the motion of your wrist and is made up of very complicated and precise parts.

both my folks wear a santos (well, my mom actually has two).... very nice, classic watches.

i still want to get a breitling.... navitimer or perhaps an evolution. omega's seem real nice as well.

you should splurge and go with a patek phillippe. It should only set you back a couple hundred grand.

Make sure you look into Ebel. Very elegant and smooth organic design.

I have one and its very good for everyday or formal wear.

    Extremely durable too.
