I don't believe there has ever been a thread about how much ass this game kicks. If there has, then it's about time for another one... "BARF!!"
wow man. what a random blast from the past. first video game i ever beat. shocked that anybody else has even heard of it. rented it for 49 cents at Pharmor (rip), and a buddy and i stayed up all night trying to finish that game about 17 years ago. the only parts i still remember vividly are the music and that you could save up and buy weapons and skills and ****.
Oh man, renting games at Pharmor rocked! They had a huge selection and it was so cheap. Every Friday night my parents took me there to rent a game or two for the weekend. And yes, this was one of the best games on the NES. Unfortunately I don't think I ever beat it. Maybe I'll fire up the emulator and give at a shot now...
the question is... stone hands or iron feet? forget everything else. the game is actually kinda tricky cause you have to go back to one of the old stages to find the "twins" as i recall. if you didn't do that, you kept going in circles. BUT... how fun was it to throw balls and have your buddy bat them? haha
Werent the "twins" Billy and Jimmy Lee? <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/goQlPC5wOic"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/goQlPC5wOic" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Just be sure to stay away from Double Dragon 3... <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kMg6_IXCjo4"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kMg6_IXCjo4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Man, every time we have a retro video game thread in here, I'm always the lone guy posting about River City Ransom and it's awesomeness. I was starting to believe I was the only one that even remembered the damn game. Best combination of beat em' up with RPG leveling EVER. (X-Men Legends series comes close) If you don't throw "Arco Circus" in there for the sheer fun factor, you're missing out (on the DS remake, it makes you virtually invincible). And I think the rule was that you had to beat a certain amount of stage bosses (like 8), plus the twins, to go into the High School. Threw a lot of guys for a loop, I imagine.
