    Okay. Here is the story.

It was a few Wednesdays ago, and I was off, so I felt like stalking Leandra the Rockets Power Dancer. I exit 45 South, and Edgebrook, and make a left under the freeway. Normally, the left two lanes are turn left lanes. The far left is a you gotta turn left, while the one next to it is a you can turn left or go straight lane.

But they have some construction going on Edgebrook, so they kinda have that second left lane as a you can't turn left, but only go straight lane. I didn't see any signs saying that. There were some cops that were pulling people to say, hey dumbass, you can't turn here. So Officer P. A. McRae has to act like a dumbass, and give me a ticket. I wasn't sure what the hell the ticket was for, and when I asked, he didn't say a damn thing. He just looked at me like a dumbass.

When I met my friend at Leandra's work place, I told her about the ticket, and she said that her mother got the same damn ticket, so these cops have been doing it for a while.

anyhoo, what are my options. I could always dial 311, but I have clutchfans.

If I pay this bs $179 fine, I don't have to show up to court?

I checked the city of Houston's website, and it says that when I show up to court, I am expected to pay the full amount? What if I don't have that cash?

I guess I have to pay up, but I want to make sure I don't have to show up.

Anyone want to donate me some cash? I am going to have to pawn my liver? What, we don't have two of those? I already gave up a kidney.

Insurance will go up if you pay that. Go to court, check trial by jury, and stick it to the man.

Next time bring a camera and just keep asking him what you did wrong. Then upload that video to youtube and send a copy to the local news and cnn and you're all set.

If you tell the judge you are broke he might reduce the fine and give you community service

Seriously you can do that?? I've been to traffic court a good number of times and usually the judge asks the person if they have the money and if they don't the judge gives them time. Maybe a couple of easy payments? But I've never seen a judge reduce the price. Just personal experience.

    Anyways, I should try that.

Just make sure you do not forget to put a really loud and annoying click during the whole video.

There’s a party tonight, you’re in a red light zone
If you don’t want a ticket you better move on
If you break the law you gotta pay your dues
Ain’t much better if you play it by the rules

‘Cause it’s so easy, it’s so right
It’s so easy to rock it with your body, baby
It’s so easy, it’s so right
It’s so easy if you drive it all night

    No parking, baby
No parking on the dance floor
    No parking, baby
No parking on the dance floor

Movin’ violations are easy to fix
Just tell the deejay to fix it in the mix
Shake it up and shake it on down
Let me feel you movin’, you gotta get down

    No parking, baby
No parking on the dance floor
    No parking, baby
No parking on the dance floor

i know exactly what you're talking about Kam. i just moved into that area. i hate that ****ing construction, and the cops are just there waiting to give out the tickets. it's as they know it confuses people who've been through that intersection countless times, but gives them a chance to collect some money.

anyhow, are you in that area often? i hoop almost every thursday at a church on edgebrook and strawberry. it's a buck to get in.

I'm somewhat in that area often. I hate going out there because I don't live in that area, and it takes about 35 minutes to go back home.

I'll have to check that place out.

Ok, I think I can postpone the payment but there is a 25 dollar fine. I rather just take defensive driving, and have it dismissed.

Can you take defensive driving for a moving violation?

I'm hoping Judge Judy gives me this instead.

Yes you can. Just go to where your ticket tells you need to appear and plead no contest and that you want to take defensive driving. You don't have to wait for a court date if you choose this route and can go up and get this process started as soon as you want. Generally one of the clerks at the courthouse can help you out with this. But just to be on the safe side I would call the courthouse before hand to find out where you need to go and what you need to do.

Also make sure you haven't been to defensive driving in the last twelve months because you can only use this option once every 12 months.

    Hope this helps.

i got the same exact ticket, i thought i could turn left from the second lane but obviously not. I asked the cop, "Hey, what did i do"? and he said "you took an illegal left turn" , then i was like, "its showing arrows on the concrete saying that i could turn", and he just looked at me and said "no there is not", all pissed off, so i was like yeah whatever.

anyways, i hired a lawyer, paid 50 buks and i didnt have to go to court. The court date got reset until march. So yeah, thats pretty much it. Hopefully it'll get dismissed later.

    Thanks.

I haven't had a ticket in a loooooong while. The Araignment thingie is tomorrow. That's what I was thinking of doing.

Who was the cop that pulled you over?

Yeah, I swore I saw the concrete with the arrows. I know it was there previously.
