Great game from the Golden Bears on a weekend of upsets. Hats off to Oregon who played a hell of a game but came up short. GO BEARS!
And could've been #2 if USC hadn't pulled it together against U-Dub... What's amazing is that, for the first time ever, Cal/we have our destiny in our own hands. We've always had to root for USC to be undefeated by the time we play so that a possible win (which never happens, of course) would increase our strength of schedule/ranking. Now, we're actively rooting for USC to lose so we'll be #2, and we can take care of business ourselves in Berkeley in a few weeks. Still some tough road games at UCLA and ASU, though... Roll on you Bears!
Oregon is a great team and they showed it. The good news for you Ducks is that its possible Oregon might not even drop since they lost a very close game to the number 6 team while most of the other upsets were to unranked teams.
This game was so good, they should have just let it go to overtime and watched it get even better. Either way, one of these teams will beat USC
Even though it benefitted CAL that was a rough way to lose the game. It was the right call though as the replays exhuastively showed. It figures that a game that was billed as an offensive battle would come down to a defensive play and even though most of the game Dixon and the Ducks went through Bears D like a grizzly through an open trash can the Bears still came up big when it counted with Dixon's first INTs of the year season and goal line play.
^ that's the problem with all of my favorite teams. Cal, Rockets, Stros.. even when they are good they often don't make it look easy.
Its official on the AP that Cal is at #3. Oregon has dropped to #14 which I'm surprised considering how many upsets there were. In other Pac 10 news USC lost #1 but ASU has moved up to #18. PAC-10 football looking pretty good this year!
