When in the hell when Rudy use the zone defense?

I'm tired of all of this inside scoring against us that eventually is the telling stat in the outcome of the game. I firmly believe that if we used the zone and forced teams to shoot from the perimiter then we could have a decent shot to win the majority of the games that we get killed in the paint. Also, what in the hell is Rudy telling these guys in the locker room to cause them to come out with no energy. Stop giving them that Crown Royal just before the game, Rudy. Back to the zone defense, just imagine if Francis and Mobley played the passing lanes. That would mean more fast break opportunities and easy baskets. Until we get a decent inside presence, I think Rudy should look more into applying the zone.

Playing zone defense is not so easy. You have to practice a lot and not sure it's worth doing it. Take care!

The NBA zone isn't a true zone. It basically allows a double team on a player anywhere on the floor even when the player does not have the ball (the old illegal D did did not allow this).

The true benefit of the new rule is that it allows quick double teams and shading the post with another player making an entry pass to the post more difficult.

My recall is that the Rockets don't double team very often and when they do they don't rotate very well. I'm not sure the Rockets could take advantage of the zone.

Exactly, that's why my argument is why don't we double the post more since we're labeled a small team?
