Just curious on everyone's viewpoint. In the last decade or so, I feel he's the the clear best PG, even better than Kidd in his prime. Comments/opinions?

    Right behind the top tier.

    Magic
    Zeke
    Stockton
    Kidd

Nash is a great point guard but his crazy numbers are partly because of the system. His numbers in Dallas is more indicitive of how good he really is which is very good.

Kidd in his prime was better overall, imo. Kidd could rebound, pass, and defend better than Nash.

Nash is faster and has a much better shot. That probably makes him a more dangerous offensive player. But Kidd's a better all-around player.

Nash is no doubt one of the the best of all times but if I had to choose between him or JKidd to be my pg, I would have to go with JKidd.

Its hard to say Nash is an all time great though isnt it? There is no doubt that he is a great player now, but he has only been great 3 years of his WHOLE career. Kidd was a game changer from day 1.

Nash at his peak is probably 2nd to Magic since I have been watching. Then I would go with Isiah. Stockton, Kidd and Payton have cases, but ultimately they were less devastating to play at their peaks because there are less offensively gifted.

If Jason Kidd had a better jumpshot and scoring instincts he could turn to he would have been #2, but he just didn't. The wizzard at setting up others AND with the ability to kill his man himself seperates Magic, Nash & Isiah. Those abilities are far more important than the negative of them being a weaker individual defender than others.

nash isn't a product of that system, he is that system. stoudamire, is a product of that system.

he's absolutely not in the magic/zeke category and his career as a whole isn't on the level of stockton/payton/kidd.

his last few years with phoenix are about as good as you can get out of a pg, but unless he wins a ring i'd have to put him on the level right outside of those 5.

    Kidd and Johnson couldn't shoot.
    Nash doesn't defend.
Zeke had the smallest impact at making his teammates better (of the names mentioned here so far)
Stockton is the only one without a hole in his game.
Oscar Robertson wasn't technically a PG. But ill put him out there.

There really is no clear cut best of the best. If you had to pick a guy from this list you would pick the one that fits your particular team the best.

It's a tough call between Nash and Kidd. Both have similar career numbers, accomplishments, accolades and styles of play. I think what you have to ask yourself when deciding between these two is what do you value more: shooting/efficiency (Nash) or having a triple double threat (Kidd)?

I disagree. Kidd is one of the top passing PGs of all time. He's on the level of Magic and Stockton.

Nash is a great passer too. But his scoring abilities make his passing slightly overrated, imo. Nash creates more open space for his teammates because of his scoring threat. But he is not as accurate and creative a passer as Kidd, Magic, and Stockton.

So, the end result is that he is as effective or more effective as a passer than Kidd. If, as you say, he creates more open space for his teammates, then his passes have better results. Better results = better passer. It's not who can throw the ball through a smaller hole - it's who creates more points for their team on the offensive side of the ball.

They are both incredible. But on the same team, Nash is going to be more effective offensively because he's one of the best shooters in the game. That makes him more of a game changer and more difficult to guard. You can lay off of Kidd a little bit, so you can guard him more effectively.

Amazing to think that Nash was even Kidd's backup at some point. I think Nash is more valuable because he can shoot so much better than Kidd. Kidd's fg % is almost Alston-esque. Kidd is a much better rebounder, but so is Francis, and nobody would argue that Francis is better than nash anymore.

Well, scoring and shooting shouldnt be a point guard's priority though right? The biggest mark on Nash to me is how he couldnt make Dallas great. He couldnt elevate the games of Dirk or Finely, but then again we are talking about Dirk here :D.

    1. Magic
    2. Nash
    3. Stockton
    4. Isaiah
    5. Kidd

I think Nash is establishing himself as the best other than Magic. Pat Riley even said Nash is clearly the best after Magic.
