Basically, i suck at halo. i get owned over and over again and it never ends. share your tips and strategies for multiplayer
practice, practice, practice. hell, i'm still being told this by a couple of my friends who are ridiculous at the game. thing is, i just have other crap going on, and i gotta take a break from the game after an hour and a half. i cant just sit at halo and play all night non stop. learn the maps, though everyones new to halo 3, so not many have em down. just try to learn em while everyone else is now too.
find a mouse and keyboard adapter. Dunno if they have it for the 360 but I had one for the original and owned in halo 1 and 2.
playing halo with a mouse and keyboard would be ridiculously unfair against folks with controllers. i LOVE the halo controls but a mouse is so much smoother.
lol i wouldnt care. i would automatically own if i had a mouse n keyboard. but are there any special tips for aiming? because i have trouble with accuracy with joysticks
I still can't understand shooters without mouse and keyboard. Not natural and not how god intend it to be.
Tips for legendary level: (1) Grunts are a lot tougher and more aggressive, so be very careful with them and always kill them first if you can. Spoiler (2) Whenever you fight along side with the Arbiter, let him do as much fighting as possible since he would never die -- he might got knocked down but will always jump up after a few seconds. (3) Against the Brutes, whenever you knock their helmets off, you should be able to kill them with a single shot to the head. (4) Against the Brute alpha primes, i.e. the ones with an invincible hammer, dual brute spikers or dual plasma rifle work really well! The alpha primes will always try to get close to you before hammering you, so what you do is keep shooting at his head, and when you see he's about to dive at you, jump straight over him, and that would put a fair amount of distance between you and the brute, and you just keep shooting at him. Repeat this for about 5 times, he should be dead. This strategy works best in open areas. Alternatively, you can kill them with 3 head shots with the sniper rifle. The same strategy works well again single Hunters too, but instead of jumping, you should dance around the Hunter. Spoiler (5) Against the Scarabs: you will have to fight 4 of them in this game, here is how I did it: (a) The first one you fight is in "Judgement day", there is a crane in a building near the fighting ground, and a lift to go up to the top of the crane. You should get on top of the crane, then drop onto the Scarab. There is a energy shield protected vault thingy at the back of the Scarab, you can drop the shield by keep shooting at it, then after the shield is down, just shoot the vault thing until it starts to blink red, when this happens, get the hell out of there because the explosion is very powerful. (b) The second one you fight is on the Ark. This time, there is no crane or anything you can use to jump onto the back of the Scarab. However, you do get a tank. Drive you tank to the third over reaching rock to your right, the rock is slanting upwards, so if you keep the tank a bit inside the rock, the Scarab cannot get to you at all!! So, just keep shooting the Scarab at its leg joints. Once you see the Scarab drop down, you should get out of the tank and run as fast as you can to the front of the Scarab -- there is a ramp on the Scarab you can jump onto, so get onto it and walk to the back of the Scarab and destroy it in the same way. (c) This time you fight 2 Scarabs at the same time on the Ark before killing Truth. Before the fight starts, you should get 2 Hornets. Run to the one closest to you and fly it to the Scarab on the right, when you get close enough to the ramp on the Scarab that leads to the vault thingy, jump out of the Hornet and drop onto the ramp -- be careful here as there are quite a few Brutes on the front of the Scarab. Once you land, run to the back of the Scarab and destroy it in the same way -- you should be able to destroy the first one within less than a minute. Once it's about to blow, get the hell out of there and run away from the fighting back towards where you get the Hornets -- you cannot actually get up there, but after a while, a wartog with a Gauss gun should pull up near you -- get in the driver's seat and drive the tog to the underneath of the surviving Scarab. Guess what, since you are the primary target of the Scarabs, it will always try to kill you, but since you are underneath it, it cannot get to you at all. So, just stay underneath the Scarab while your gunner shoots at the Scarab's knees while all the other marines take out the Brutes on the Scarab. Once the Scarab drops down, jump onto it and destroy it -- there should be enough time for the marines to kill all the Brutes on board. (6) Against the flood ... I'm afraid that the shotgun doesn't work very well anymore. Instead, dual plasma rifle or brute spikers seem to be really useful. At the first a few levels against the flood, you don't always have to kill them all and it's not hard to just run through them to the next check point. If you are fighting along side the Arbiter, don't be ashamed to let him do a lot of the fighting -- he doesn't die anyway. Spoiler However, on the level that you have to get Cortana back, sometimes you really have to kill every single one of them to get through. I'd be happy to answer level specific questions.
What I dont get is that when I play MP...it seems like I get killed in one shot. Like the guy appears...shoots...I die. Another guy pops up...pulls a trigger...dead on the scene. Against crappy people, we actually have short little battles. Against the good people, it seems like they have a weapon that kills you with one shot. I can always find the best weapons, but it really doesnt matter. Fudge.
practice hard. chances are if you get better and better at the game and become a pro one day all the hot girls will be after you hard.
I'd suggest playing through...or at least some of the game...on at least heroic level...the AI might not react like an online foe, but it does give you a chance to get used to the weapons, the button configuration, the physics in the game and the sensitivity of your analog stick...I'd also suggest raising the sensitivity our stick to one of the higher levels. And then when you go online it doesn't hurt to play in a lot of social lists because there you will find people of all skill levels and not just yours. And then take a look at the maps before hand...but really I think you can do ok w/o knowing the maps if you've just practiced. If none of the above works...then you're just f***ed
learn to move side to side as you shoot, something i had to get used to. i still suck with the sniper because i cant aim with it if i try to move and shoot, i need to be still. but when you're in a close range battle move side to side while shooting, also if anything, and you're going to die jump around and throw a grenade, might be able to kill the person that kills you
I know there are a couple weapons where this is more possible (at least in 2)... some people are so good with the sniper rifle they can use it almost in close quarters. And of course the shotgun right to the head will do a good job.
that's because the really good players always aim for the head...and headshots do a LOT more damage that's probably what you're experiencing, not that they're using different weapons or anything. you just have to get used to shooting for the head (and being accurate at it)
the BR is my best weapon i think, but i can never get a damned HS with it lol. ive gotten pretty good at beating down and sneaking up on ppl and assassinating
yea, head shots are important, hell i'm still trying to get better at em and i've been playing halo for awhile now. i'd say as you're learning to aim at the head while shooting, just move back and forth throw grenades whatever you gotta do to buy some time to stay alive.if you have to, try getting behind something and try to get your shield out of the blinking red and let the shield get back up.
Thanks for the help fellas...yeah, I just need to keep practicing. I do realize that Im usually aiming for the body. And with the sniper rifle, I need to improve my aim with it. Sucks when I go one on one with someone and I misfire. By the time it reloads, Im done. When I get decent, I'll join you guys online.
