This Rocket team looks so complete that it just will not be fair if they don't make it to the playoffs.

Cato, Rogers, Anderson, and Drew have never been given a decent opportunity to show what they can do in the NBA.

Thomas and Francis have excelled in their Rookie years. Thomas was supposed to be a 12th man. And Francis was supposed to score 20 pts. , 2.5 assists, 3 rebounds, 9 turnovers, and a big head that would subdue the whole chemistry for the Rockets.

But the Rookies look more like veterans than like rookies. Francis thinks for the team before himself. He has the ability to breakdown any defense and challenge Iverson for the scoring title. However, Francis is a total team player. 7 assists per game and 18 points a game are numbers reserved for the elite guards.

Thomas will be fun to look evolve into a near all-star status.

So, the big guns were Olajowon and Barkley going into the season. The supporting players have done great and look like playoff contenders not pretenders.

I have the same feelings man....i think if Kenny can get 10-12 and 6-8, along with 15-17 and 6-9 from Hakeem, and any deffensive presence from Cato for the remainder of the year there is not a question in my mind that THESE Rockets dont make the playoffs, and if Rogers can come here in a month and had some boards thats another presence. I dont know if it was here or on another BBS, but the reason why some one said the Rockets have/will continue to win is that Hakeem has accept his role as a 2nd option on offense and has steped up as a Deffensive force...now if he can continue to play as active and accept his role once the rust is off and the legs are back then I believe this team will catch the Wolvs in the next 30-35 games. The rockets just need to continue to bring the energy every night and they will be ok...the talent is in place and the game plans are being played to a T.......Rudy T. that is, people better start giving this guy his dues....it seems like 90% of you guys where calling for his head at the start of the season, do you not think that he had nothing to do with the rockets current success? In my mind he is a top 5 coach, maybe number 3 or 4, the only coaches I would take over him would be Jackson and Pat.....Sloan and Rudy are right there in my book....I am not a big fan of George Karl,on another note Doc has been a pleasant surpise in Orlando with all the changes that were made. Do you guys see Van making the transition from Comets head coach to a Head coaching position in the NBA?

here's something to boost our hopes:

many experts use a road-win vs home-losses tally to measure where teams are during the season.

    Minn is 10-8
    Phoe is 6-5
    Rockets are 7-11

this illustrates that the Rockets are beginning to hold-down homecourt wins at Minn's clip and the Suns are not that good a road team and have played 4 less road games than the Rockets.

The Rockets need to salvage a 60% home record (25-16) and handle the bad teams on the road and get to (20-21), and then hope 8 games over makes it at .549.

while i believe 16-5 at home the rest of the way out is within our reach; the 13-8 road record is only being achieved by about 5 teams in the league right now...so we are kind of in dreamland here, especially since 55% is a lottery team right now anyhow. We are in the strong conference.

As I stated in another post, I think our best chance will be in Minnesota moving into the 7th slot and Phoenix falling on the road.

    ------------------
The key for the Rockets is a winning attitude and mentality which can only be had by winning basketball games.

If Rockets expect to make the playoffs help is in order from other teams. The Rockets need a cooling off from Minnesota, Phoenix, Seattle, or even Sacramento (this would be an interesting tread to start, which team chokes). The Lakers, Portland, San Antonio, and Utah are virtual locks!!!!

Even so, this is WAY BETTER than TANKING for the REST of the SEASON!!!!!!
