Okay before all of you slam me for writing this, I want you to read this post objectively: Miami plays Washington tonight at 7, and this game along with next Saturday's game will be one of their biggest tests in getting to the Rose Bowl. With Nebraska losing yesterday, Miami is a lock to be the new #1 in the BCS if they beat Washington tonight. The Huskies are no chump change as they are ranked in the top 15 of the BCS (#12 in the polls) and have never lost to Miami. They have ended Miami's 58 game record winning streak at home and they cost the Canes a chance of playing for the national title last season. So, you would think it's pretty much an obvious fact that this is an important game. Well, ABC in their infinite wisdom has decided that Notre Dame against Stanford is just as "important" and has made this into a regional broadcast. Here's a link to the coverage map: http://espn.go.com/abcsports/television/coveragemap.html As you can see, almost all of Tennessee (except for a little part, which I might be in) is going to see the ND-Stanford game. Also, all of Texas is going to see the ND-Stanford game. This is a joke, IMO. I know that ABC is thinking that they will get good ratings by showing Notre Dame in primetime, but Notre Dame has not been anything since Lou Holtz left. How many people truly get excited at seeing Notre Dame on NBC playing a home game against Navy or West Virginia or someone like that? I guarantee you that if NBC could get out of their contract with Notre Dame they would. I know that I am biased, but come on: Miami-Washington is the more important game (BCS wise) and on paper, the more competitive game. Just another example of why I hate Notre Dame more than any other program in college football because of bullsh!t like this.
Yeah, I haven't figured out exactly why Texas would be interested in Stanford/Notre Dame either. Or that little Eastern part of Louisiana??? That sucks.
the networks figure that there are catholics everywhere, and surely all the catholics want to watch notre dame. I'm not catholic so I don't know whether that's sound logic. all I know is that pretty much every football fan I'd talk to would say they'd rather see wash./miami. but I'm going to have a hard time working up too much bitterness over the network's decision on a night a sweet as tonight. HOOK THEM!!
I'm highly PISSED!!!!!!!! The link that rockHEAD gave me last week is broadcasting a #$&@ Florida Panthers hockey game!! This is unfreakingbelievable...what ABC is doing here is unconsciencable. Nobody cares about Notre Dame anymore, you morons at ABC. When are you going wake up and realize that? DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Austin ABC affiliate is scrolling a message across the screen. I'm sure people in Austin want to see the UW/Miami game just as much as anyone in the country. Basically, the local affiliate has been asking ABC for the past two weeks to allow Austin access to the UW/Miami game but due to contractual obligations ABC is forced to air Stanford/ND in a certain percentage of the nation. = we are screwed.
Basically, the local affiliate has been asking ABC for the past two weeks to allow Austin access to the UW/Miami game but due to contractual obligations ABC is forced to air Stanford/ND in a certain percentage of the nation. This makes sense. This was probably the only big game scheduled for tonight before the UW/Miami game got rescheduled due to Sept 11th.
Well, I finally was able to get a link to a radio broadcast: http://mediaframe.yahoo.com/launch?lid=rna-14-p.934596-50430&p=broadcast&f=78209481&a=0,30&bw=http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/teams/wwb/ Miami has shown that they are on a mission! I can't believe that they are winning 37-0! Oh and for Sir Charles Fan..a great big for you!
Personally I would have rather seen the 17-14 Stanford/ND game then Miami kill Washington 65-7. Maybe it's just me but I dont enjoy watching Miami kill somebody. Luckly ESPN was showing the Georgia/Georgia Tech game.
Just to piss you all off even further, I spent the Thanksgiving weekend at my parent's house in the Beaumont area. The ABC affiliate there did carry the Washington-Miami game. I watched it untill it wasn't a game anymore, about midway through the first quarter.
