I got early bird tickets the first 4 years. Year 5 they had an email glitch that screwed me and about 1/2 the email list out of the opportunity. This year they started this crap. I literally knew about 100 people that went to this festival. Not one of them got in on the lottery. Odds are at least a few of them would have. I'm not sure anyone actually got the cheap tickets. I'm not holding my breath this time either.
As leroy420 said, odds aren't too good for any of us separately so makes sense for at least one of us to get some.
'Early Bird' 3-day passes on sale now... http://aclfestival.frontgatetickets.com/choose.php?a=1&lid=14926&eid=19077 $135 ... wasn't early bird like $90 in the past? Maybe they can use the extra $$$ to draw more top bands.
once again i received no f*cking email notifying me of the $50 lottery.... this is the 3rd year in a row i believe that ACL did not notify me at all. for someone who has gone 4 of the 6 years, that is not cool. wtf? oh well, odds are i'm not going again.
Screwed again, as well, for the 3rd straight year. I got the email on both accounts, my wife as well. We were 0-3. I've been all 6 years. 3-days was $120 this year, so they went up, again. I'll be buying them again and hoping for a much better lineup. I can't stand another year of this euro-crap pop stuff.
yeah, they need to tone back on some of the poppy stuff. i want more of an austin, tx lineup.... bluesy, folksy, rock, alt-country.... get back to their origins. and some good hip-hop, dammit! bring me the roots!
I enjoy some of those Euro bands; Kaiser Chiefs were great. Why not have an eclectic mix and let people choose their stage? There certainly was no shortage of crowds by the euro-band stages.
There were some points where there was no choice...Arcade Fire or Muse. I personally don't care for either of them. I know that's the fault of the White Stripes that they were up against each other. I'm just saying I don't like the stuff. I stayed away as much as possible...which led me to spend a large majority of the weekend at the Austin Ventures stage. There just seems to be a large amount of that type of music over the past 2 or 3 years...while going away from what makes Austin music great, IMO.
Fair enough; ACL's roots will always be in what you like so I can't imagine them ever straying too far; it's their identity. My wife wasn't too happy about the Stripes cancellation either, but I'm not so high on them... Raconteurs didn't do much for me last year. But I really like Muse.
From those I've talked to today, you make it 0-20. Without know exactly how many people are on their email list, I'm still thinking the mathematical odds lean towards knowing at least 1 person that got in. I know at least 20 people (some with multiple email addresses) on the list that didn't get it last year either. I'm seriously starting to wonder if the tickets actually exist. Edit: Now 0-22...I'm going to keep a tab
They were ~$90 two years ago and went up to $120 this year. That didn't stop them from have a piss poor lineup this year. Still, I bought 8 (persuaded parents to buy 4) that I will be scalping again if they have another euro-wannabe-punk-but-sound-like-a-teen-movie-soundtrack crap lineup.
Between me, the girl & a few of our friends, you can make it 0-31. Loved the lineup you posted, that one & the year with the Allmans & Widespread have been my favorites so far. Not feeling bad about missing this year´s at all.
