New York trades: Charlie Ward $5,110,000 to Cleveland (plus Trade Kicker $814,500)
New York trades: Kurt Thomas $4,413,375 to Houston
New York trades: Travis Knight $3,600,000 to Houston
New York trades: Mark Jackson $3,860,000 to Portland
    TOTAL: $16,983,375

Portland trades: Bonzi Wells $2,028,240 to Cleveland
Portland trades: Damon Stoudamire $12,375,000 to New York
Portland trades: Steve Kerr $2,406,250 to Cleveland
    TOTAL: $16,809,490

Houston trades: Dan Langhi $465,850 to Cleveland
Houston trades: Kenny Thomas $946,920 to New York
Houston trades: Kelvin Cato $6,048,000 to New York
    TOTAL: $7,460,770

Cleveland trades: Zydrunas Illgauskas $11,250,000 to Portland
    TOTAL: $11,250,000

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to New York, Portland, Houston and Cleveland being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. New York, Portland, Houston and Cleveland had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Portland would also receive a trade exception of $1,699,490 with this trade. This would have to be used within one calendar year from the date of this trade.

Be aware that this exception will be extinguished if the team which possesses it falls below the cap by the combined amount of the exceptions it currently possesses.

Cleveland would also receive a trade exception of $425,160 with this trade. This would have to be used within one calendar year from the date of this trade.

Be aware that this exception will be extinguished if the team which possesses it falls below the cap by the combined amount of the exceptions it currently possesses.

    What do you guys think?

I'm not gonna sit and write how everyone benefits, I'm sure you guys are smart enough to figure it out. About trading Cato, it's more of a capspace thing. I support cato, but business is business. I think that he WILL strive in New York alongside Camby.

please please please gimme intelligent comments or ways to improve it, or anything.

It's not a bad deal, but it has one major flaw:

Portland will not trade Bonzi Wells.

Also, Ilgaukas makes that much?? LOL!

I commend your efforts on thinking of a way to get rid of Cato AND Langhi, but it looks like we are stuck with them (well, at least Cato) for a while.

    Here's what I was thinking:

Blazers: They don't mind Ilgauskas' contract. They had Sabonis, who plays very much like this guy. Not cause they're from the same country (are they?). I've seen them, they're similar. Also, Patterson, Pippen, Anderson and Wells will never be able to co-exist. Stoudamire is in a deep riff with Cheeks. Portland are in trouble (their record). Someone has to go, and out of that bunch, Bonzi is the odd man out and is the only one who's salary fits the trade..

I'm not trying to get RID of Cato, btw. I'm finding a better situation for him and for us.

Yes, for some reason, Illgauskas makes THAT much, lol.

(Houstone, i was just kidin too, lol..)

Do you like Cato better? I do, but no one else does. Getting Travis Knight's smaller contract for him to backup Willis is a nice little sacrifice.

Portland would never trade Wells and Stoudemire for Illgauskas.

New York wouldn't want Cato. They will know how bad he when they ask Shandon.

Cleveland would slober for a deal like this.

Houston would also love this deal.

Also, I think Cleveland can work on sending Trajan Langdon to the Blazers for the exception they make with this trade, to kinda tip the scales, and make Cleveland's backcourt less of a crowd.

He sux but he is our only big man. I just don't like it when we go small. I want either Willis or Cato on the court at all times. If we get Thomas it would be worth getting rid of Cato and his stupid contract.

My first thought would be that Portland would balk at this deal. They would be giving up some very good young talent (with the exception of Kerr) for an old PG that can't even crack the starting lineup of the pathetic Knicks & a center that, when healthy, is worth his weight in gold. The problem is that he's broken his foot once too often & seems destined to have problems with his feet throughout his career. If I were Portland's GM, I'd see if Malone was available & would offer a package of:

Portland trades: Steve Kerr $2,406,250 to Utah
Portland trades: Damon Stoudamire $12,375,000 to Utah
Portland trades: Bonzi Wells $2,028,240 to Utah
    TOTAL: $16,809,490

Utah trades: Karl Malone $17,500,000 to Portland
    TOTAL: $17,500,000

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Now a couple of different trades that I would look at involving the Rockets are:

Houston trades: Kelvin Cato $6,048,000 to Denver
Houston trades: Walt Williams $5,000,000 to Washington
    TOTAL: $11,048,000

Denver trades: Shawnelle Scott $590,850 to Washington
Denver trades: Ryan Bowen $630,850 to Washington
Denver trades: Voshon Lenard $4,252,434 to Phoenix
Denver trades: George McCloud $2,400,000 to Washington
    TOTAL: $7,874,134

Phoenix trades: Tom Gugliotta $10,113,465 to Houston (plus Trade Kicker $1,575,329)
    TOTAL: $10,113,465

Washington trades: Jahidi White $4,413,375 to Phoenix (BYC Value $3,310,031)
Washington trades: Richard Hamilton $2,111,640 to Denver
Washington trades: Hubert Davis $2,368,421 to Phoenix
    TOTAL: $8,893,436

    TRADE ACCEPTED

    .......or:

Houston trades: Walt Williams $5,000,000 to Washington
Houston trades: Kelvin Cato $6,048,000 to Phoenix
    TOTAL: $11,048,000

Denver trades: Voshon Lenard $4,252,434 to Phoenix
Denver trades: George McCloud $2,400,000 to Washington
Denver trades: Shawnelle Scott $590,850 to Washington
Denver trades: Ryan Bowen $630,850 to Washington
    TOTAL: $7,874,134

Phoenix trades: Tom Gugliotta $10,113,465 to Houston (plus Trade Kicker $1,575,329)
    TOTAL: $10,113,465

Washington trades: Richard Hamilton $2,111,640 to Denver
Washington trades: Hubert Davis $2,368,421 to Denver
Washington trades: Jahidi White $4,413,375 to Denver (BYC Value $3,310,031)

I got to the part where Portland trades Bonzi and decided you are a bimbo.

Hottodie, you are vice bimbo just for following along with this idiocy.

Well Portland does have a logjam at the 3, and they don't have a real center. I'm not sure we get better trading Thomas's, except that Kurt is a little taller and meaner.

I am impressed at the effort, but as shallow as it sounds, Kenny Thomas for life!

If Portland makes a deal this season, it will likely involve Stoudamire and/or Dale Davis. The chances of them dealing Bonzi Wells are remote.

Portland trades: Steve Kerr $2,406,250 to Utah

Man, that's alot of money. Are $500 bills orange or light blue?

    hehe

Please don't trade KT, I couldn't bear cheering for the Knicks. Besides, he's more of a Western Conference SF/PF.

Sane, MManal says it best. Portland's giving up too much in Bonzi for too little in return. Cleveland makes out like bandits. Portland's not in so bad a position as Chicago they need to give up their top scorer (he is, isn't he?), and at least Chicago got a #3 pick in exchange.

'Toddie, a Portland-Utah trade is intriguing. I could see the possibility of something like that happening. However, Utah isn't getting enough for Malone. Unless Stoudamire's at the top of his game, or just needs a change of scenery to become one of the top PG in the game again and/or Zach Randolph is a budding superstar, Utah's losing value. Malone is still one of the best players in the game, as much as we all hate to admit. I don't see why Utah should let him go without accumulating a clear core of players they can build around now.
