You know what's sad? If this were FREE season tickets for the TEXANS or the ASSTROS, everyone and their mama would be there to audition. It is a shame how the Rockets take a back seat to such losing organizations although Texans are (2-1) right now in the Matt Schaub era.
Poor video quality because it's from a phone cam, but here are the Red Rowdies hopefuls before the tryouts on Saturday, on the Rockets practice floor, chanting "CLUTCH-FANS". <object width="300" height="247"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KsmJFTJA8Mk"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KsmJFTJA8Mk" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="300" height="247"></embed></object> Special thanks to the Rowdies for doing that and Jeff for filming it -- I thought that was cool.
How many championships have the ASSTROS won? And at least the Rockets NEVER lost 4-0 in the Championship like the ASSTROS did.
Even the Rockets are my #1 team I still rather tryout for Texans season tickets. Why? Well you got 8 games with most of them on Sunday at noon. The Rockets will give you 41 games at anytime of the week with afternoon and night tip-offs. There's just no way I could go to every Rockets game. I may even miss half of them on TV this season.
Oh yeah I remember who you are exactly. You got me pumped up to do my routine! I am happy to be apart of the Red Rowdie family!
that should at least have a mention of the ORIGINAL Red Rowdies back in the 05-06 season in which was organized in the very board with Clutch/Brian Hopkins in which started from a few members (Omega, kerfield, krosfyah, andymoon, and akperez come to mind) which started at a game vs. the Hornets? then had another one vs. the Clippers that Mig and I were a part of.
for the record I am seething with jealously to all those that made it. but congrats and good job...now better go represent to the fullest
Did you think that was in question? btw, nice pic on the front page! You will always be an honorary Rowdy. You are with us in spirit at all games!
that's correct. It was the Warriors. Although we coordinated one or two additional games that season (one was the 76's, IIRC, and we lost that one). Can you, or anybody else, reconstruct how the Rowdies came to be? I recall it was Tim McDougal, iirc, that latched on and secured the discounted tickets. He also had the t-shirts printed. But what I don't remember if he is the one that came up with the idea. Or if someone on the BBS was arranging group tickets and Tim got involved later. I know Tim requested to come up with the idea to name the group so he could print it on the shirts. The name Red Rowdies was introduced here, I know. The alternate name was Red Alert. In hindsight, I'm glad we stuck with Rowdies. What is an "alert?" We call ourselves Rowdies all the time. To call ourselves an "alert" is pretty lame.
Think a Rockets ticket rep. offered, a 1 time, Clutchfan discount for that Warriors game. Clutch posted the information and away it went, at least in my recollection.
That Warriors game was awesome - one of my fav fan moments, along with invading SA last year. The original threads should be around here somewhere...unless it bit it along with the hard drive. Evan
That first Rowdies game was awesome, considering it came during that horrible injury season it was one of the few bright spots and one of the few games that year we won without T-mac, he was out that game.
