still an upgrade over jennings, and they are young with more upside. even taveras has missed a lot of games with the rockies this year, but that 320 batting average, 33 steals, and his defensive skills at cf are sorely missed.
Burke 8 LOB Towles 8 RBI Anderson's numbers haven't been this good in the minors, but if somehow something just clicks while in the majors, he wouldn't be the first. With the way he's played this month, after a good spring training he could be in the lineup opening day. Any way the 'Stros can trade for Dontrelle or a #2? Who do we have who hasn't lost all their trade value? Would you trade Lee for Willis and a top prospect or two?
Why do you think Ausmus plays all the time? Because the pitchers love him. That's why. If he decided to come band and didn't want to take a backup role, the 'Stros probably would trot him out there everyday.
Oh man. Actually he is a highly thought of prospect. He's just not one of those "elite" prospects. He's pretty much been on the same pace as Pence until this year though. He is Pence's Biggio. lol Not really but Anderson did steal 40 bases this year at RR. I'll give ya a brief rundown on him for ya though. He's been hitting leadoff for just about every team he played on. He's doesn't blow up box scores though. He doesn't hit for a high average. He doesn't walk all that often. What he does do is make the pitcher work for the out. He's a singles hitter, plain and simple. He is very fast, ah duh. lol I think he is playing above himself a little bit. But even if he doesn't keep it up, I'd like to see him leading off next spring. Defensively.... forget about it. He's good. Much better than he's shown so far that's for sure.
offtopic: hey Akhorahil you see who is the leading candidate for MVP? i told ya Matt Holliday was going to be an MVP someday.
Yeah I remember. And if ya remember, I agreed with ya. But I still feel the same way about this. I don't think he will ever win MVP with the Colorado Rockies. The only way I see that happening is if Todd Helton isn't there. Did you notice that ESPN doesn't even have him among the top 5 candidates. Even with the ridiculous numbers he's putting up, he's still all back of the bus. Even though he leads the NL in RBIs and hits, they still have David Wright ranked higher. It's a shame though. He's had one heck of a year. But I've got a feeling it's going to come down to Chase Utley and Prince Fielder. I hope he does win it. I think he deserves to win it right now. But that doesn't mean it's going to happen.
Oh yeah I forgot... lol Dominator... Remember what I said about them selling the Cubs way... way... way... back when?!?!?!?! I tell ya... between the both of us... we nailed this season before ST even started.
I know alot of the people here (including me) think anderson and towles should be on this team next year. Does anyone else think that ransom could be on this team at least as a back up shortstop/ third baseman? He can hit for power but probaly not for average but that's cool since he plays a decent shortstop. One thing that has impressed me about all these rookies is that they all have excellent plate dicipline, something that our team sorely lacked this year. I think all three should be on this team and towles and anderson should be starters next year. Scott should be traded while he's still valuable for some pitching. Even though i like him, he's probaly the most useless player on this team. What do ya'll think?
sadly... I agree with you. Luke is one of my favorite players. But I think he's on his way out. But it's not something that's for sure... or anything you have to rush to do either. We got a long time before ST next season. These youngsters are going to play in the Fall league. Lots of things could happen.
Ransom committed his 3rd error already, which gave the Cards a run. That's why Everett is so valuable. Meanwhile, Sarfate struck out Rick Ankiel on a 100-mph fastball. I don't think I've seen him throw below 95. He's electric.
Since most people want Lidge gone, although I am not one of those people, I will pose this question: Who do you want to be our closer?
yep. i know, i dont understand why people want ransom at SS next year. i think sarfate threw an 84 changeup the other day but i dont remember if it was him or not. unless they sign Joe Nathan i want lidge as closer. if lidge falters again then Nieve if he recovers (anyone heard any news lately?) qualls gives up too many HRs for a closer.
Randolph sucks. The guy is a walk machine. Not just with us but with Arizona too. He walked 76 in 81 innings for the DBacks. 76 walks is kind of high for a starter but it's ridiculously high for a reliever. He's walked 15 in 12 2/3 innings for the Astros this year. So he walks the bases loaded, Lidges looks like a wuss facing Pujols then pitches well against Molina to get the final out.
