it could be a double edged sword. trading for ak47 brings a 3rd max contract but could potentially get the rockets under the luxury tax threshold.
Battier lands a top 5 lottery pick and the defensive player of the year. How could that ever be lopsided.
What planet are you on? You must have missed all the Camby trade rumors and talks of what the Nuggets should do all the money they have invested in three PF's. The Nuggets are looking to deal Camby and in this suggested scenario they would receive not only equal talent in a return, but a player that's an All-Star level talent. I don't understand why you're having a hard time swallowing this. Really, who gets shafted in that trade? This isn't some typical, "HEY!! Let's trade Sura and Reed for Dwight Howard?!" BS. Furthermore, Defensive Player of the Year is just a label -- NOT a reason to hang onto a player. Take a look at the past two DPOY's before Camby: Ben Wallace and Artest. Those are two of the most undesirable players in the NBA right now. Artest, with his head problems and inability to be coached by anybody and Wallace with his ginormous, franchise-killing contract for a player that's beyond offensively inept. Remember, just a label otherwise why would the Nuggets be so open to dealing Camby? He's their only PF that actually earns his salary. ....and Brewer was picked 14th overall in the '06 draft. He most certainly wasn't a top five pick.
I say yes to ak he can bring as much as Battier ( not the same but possiby better fitting the game of Coach A than Battier) It gives us the chance of being able to have two of our top eight players with injury and still play the same quality game. For sure Utah would never beat us again during the following five seasons! AK would divulge all !!
I definitely feel for AK. Yeah, he is weak minded, but over the years there were a number of players complained about Sloan. Sloan is a great coach, but AK probably wont fit in there. Guys like Deron and Carlos fit in well. If we can get hand on AK, go for it. I think he probably will end up somewhere in the east for lotto picks.
some pretty serious stuff here about AK-47, just came out http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3029816
That's pretty serious stuff right there. Personally, I wouldn't go 10 yards near a player who's as pouty as Kirilenko. Is it THAT bad that you come out and say you're willing to forego tens of millions just to get away from a situation you don't like? Suck it up and be a man Andrei. You're playing for a winning team, possibly a contending team. You're earning more than most people ever will in multiple lifetimes. You jolly well make yourself fit into the team. Not the other way round. What a baby-coddled sap.
If AK is released by the Jazz, I'm sure that him not playing in the NBA again will be part of the agreement.
He was drafted 7th. But lets not quibble. This is a pipe dream. You want Camby AND brewer you need Yao to get that done. If you say hell no, then pull out your homer card.
what, I don't mean to but in to your argument, but Ronnie Brewer WAS drafted #14 in 2006. The #7 pick was Randy Foye.
he wants throw 63 mil away. and why not? he already made enough for living and he can earn pretty decent sum in Europe too. that is same what Billy did taht is same, what Saras got they are good players and they don't want got his "millions more what other people earn in multiple lifetimes" for sitting in bench and got negative critisism. they want play and got paid for it. in reasonable amount. you can live your life OK with one million USD , when you make good decisions
Totally disagree. If *anyone* has a high-paying job that they hate, why can't they move to another job and make less? That sounds more smart than dumb to me, and it sounds more like someone with stones than a baby. Other articles have called him professional and mature in a way that few NBA players are mature. I really don't have a take, but I don't judge a guy for walking away from millions, if he doesn't enjoy to the job. He is a big reason Utah beat the Rockets, if anyone remembers that, and he definitely just kicked major ass in that Europe tournament, for whatever that's worth. I mean... we're not talking about a V-Span guy here.
no you werent just admit it, you made a mistake, you got called on it dont try to weasel out of it, just admit it and move on. as for AK, let him leave, I dont care, that just weakens the Jazz, which Im good with.
Because a Minnesota rookie has anything to do with a Utah-Den-Hou trade proposal? It's not that awful to say "oops, my bad" on the boards. I wouldn't reach for AK - while we could scrounge together a package that would work, he'd be awfully cap-heavy for a guy that needs to play with complete freedom to be effective. He's not a fabulous man-to-man defender and his offense is undependable at best. He can terrorize teams if you play a variation of box-1 zone and let him loose all over the court, but that's not the easiest thing to do. Evan
