I have the trojan.downloader virus and have tried every possible way to remove it and have had no luck before I delete and restore my hard drive, i was hoping someone on the board could help me any advice will be appreciated
Try these programs if you haven't already. Adaware http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-20...045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5 Spybot S&D: http://www.safer-networking.org/ These take off adware as well most trojans. Use this if you don't have a virus scanner. http://housecall.trendmicro.com It's an online virus scanner that should pick the trojan you have. And this is sort of a last resort. Basically if that online virus scanner is unable to remove the virus but knows what it is, google up the name of the virus for help, and see what running application it would be so you can remove it. http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php HiJackThis basically turns off any programs that you typically would have when you boot up your computer. The downside to this is if you remove necessary applications in order to run Windows, you're pretty much screwed. So you have to be careful. If you know the name of the program running the Trojan however, just run HiJackThis, and find it in the list of running applications on your computer and remove it. This is also good for cleaning up programs that you don't want at your start up like AIM for example. Outside of that, do you have any way to reset all data information kept from the last date you know you didn't have a trojan? Like say a month back? Norton Ghost backs up for your files if data is corrupted for situations like these.
tried all of the above except the Hijakthis app, im not to sure how to read the results and find what needs to be deleted.....still have this one pop up that just wont go away
Do you know which file is causing the problem? If you do, restart with a CD, then go delete the said file.
Try: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=131193&highlight=malware Also, make certain your antivirus program is not excluding any directories. I noticed that one of mine was ignoring c:\System Volume Information (restore info), and that's where the trojan was.
I keep getting the pop up "warning potential spyware is on your computer" I have run about 6 different programs that at first showed all this crap but now that I have had everything removed/deleted/cleaned they show my comp virus free yet...I still have the problem. I also have noticed I am unable to open or find control panel folder nor can i access set program access and defaults through windows, it tells me "due to restrictions in effect on this computer"
go to the symantec site. They might have a removal file for that trogan. They have a lot of little programs you can run to remove trogans. Try it in SAFEMODE . (best way to remove trogans/viruses) This is because they never get a chance to start up.
