In his defense, I think DQV isn't really one of the more popular DQ games in the series (DQVII became more popular as well I believe). Haven't played the DQ games, but I wonder if it would be like if Square-Enix remade FF4, FF8, or something, as opposed to FF7 (seemingly the most popular in the series AFAIK). If a remake of an average FF sold almost on par with a new FF game (comparing first week numbers anyway), I could only wonder at what a remake for FF7 would do.

Not sure any of this really matters since we're just basing this all off of a rumor made by an anonymous poster the day before the biggest gaming event in Japan, involving a game that has been rumored to be in development for the last 7 years or so.

Kaz's keynote should start soon (10 minutes?). I think 1UP, IGN, Eurogamer, and a few other sites are blogging it.

I expect the upcoming DS remakes of the other Dragon Quest games to sell like hotcakes, but enough derailing this thread based on a rumor :)

    Bring on the real news!

DualShock 3 (for the US) and Home both scheduled for release in Spring 08. :(

Guess you can import a DS3 from Japan this year though. Not sure why it will release at different times in the 3 regions. Had a feeling Home would probably be delayed too.

Oh, looks like you'll be able to access the PSN on a PC now. Also, it was announced earlier that the PSP can turn on and off your PS3 remotely (which is really nice IMO).

edit: And it looks like it is over (except for QA)...and no FF7 remake announcement. So much for that then...

Now we got some info on the platforms for the KH games:

    KH Coded - Mobile
    KH 358/2 Days (358 Days Over 2) - DS
KH Birth by Sleep - PSP

I'll probably edit this post with any other stuff I find (at least for a little while).

edit: Bit more info on the KH games from 1UP:
edit2: Pretty nice trailer for Afrika

Think I'll be going to sleep now.

lame on the DualShock 3 release time

Home I can understand, since it's a piece of software and those always get delayed. plus, Home is pretty complicated so I expected that

but why the hell is the controller set back so far, that should be easy to do

There is a long list of (NA) games that support it too, including some of the major games coming out the end of this year or early next year. So yeah...not really following the logic there.

Someone mentioned the possibility that maybe they're trying to clear out stock here. Might make more sense I guess. Good thing I don't really care.

I had mentioned it in the Ninja Gaiden 2 thread about a week ago I think (NG2 was announced at a MS Pre-TGS Conference, where they also announced Rez HD). Probably should have mentioned in again here, or at least put a link.

BTW, there are tons of trailers and gameplay movies out there, too many for me to try and post here. There are videos for LBP, Afrika, Uncharted, R&C, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, MGS4/MGO (gameplay), White Knight Story (with gameplay), Ace Combat 6, Kingdom Under Fire, Devil May Cry 4, The Last Remnant, Lost Odyssey, VF5, Soul Calibur IV, Resident Evil UC, and more. Also, a direct-feed (English) version of the MGS4 trailer is available. The PSN just got updated with new videos (and demos/games) too, although I'm not sure if any of them are different that what has been posted online.

Also, I guess MotorStorm 2 has more or less been confirmed for 2008.

Going to try and recap most of TGS in this post, although there isn't really much to recap. Rather than try to collect all the news myself, I'm just going to link to NeoGAF (like I usually do) since one of their mods has already done this:
    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=7929427&postcount=1
Great way to get most of the TGS stuff in one place.

While there are plenty of gameplay videos of MGS4, I noticed that most of them showed people who didn't really know how to play the game (let's run right out into the open and get into a gunfight...and die). However, there is one video out there (a developer walkthrough I think?) that really shows off the new gameplay elements well IMO (not to mention the graphics):
    http://ruliweb.empas.com/data/rulinews/read.htm?page=1&num=15707&find=subject&ftext=tgs&main=
This is a Korean website, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out the links to download the videos (so far, only 2 parts, but there may be more later).

One interesting thing brought up in the codec conversation with Otacon in the video is that (mild spoilers about one of the characters in MGS4):
It seems that Sunny helped Otacon create MKII, so she's apparently some kind of child genius. If you don't remember from the trailer, Sunny is the daughter of Olga who was taken by the Patriots.

For more MGS4/MGO love, I do recommend watching and listening to the latest episodes of the 1UP Show and 1UP Yours (over at 1UP.com). They discuss a lot of the gameplay mechanics (including how it works with the new "next-gen" rumble in the PS3). In fact, in the 1UP Yours podcast, they have Ryan Payton, who works at Kojima Productions (forget what his official title is, but he has helped the team "westernize" MGS). He actually clears up a lot of the confusion over MGO and MGS4. They also discuss a few other games of course (like Lost Odyssey, White Knight Story, GT5P, FFXIII, etc.).

Going to try and post a few videos, mostly from games that seem to be going somewhat under the radar:

    Full White Knight Story demo

DMC4 Trailer (seems like DMC4 does get forgotten at most of these events)

Valkyrie of the Battlefield (PS3 game from Sega...probably Japan-only, but it looks kind of interesting to me)
    <object width="480" height="292"><param name="movie" value="http://www.gamersyde.com/extstream_4624_en"></param><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.gamersyde.com/extstream_4624_en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="292" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

    Yakuza 3 Trailer
    <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" id="gtembed" width="480" height="409"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="movie" value="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=24921"/> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <embed src="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=24921" swLiveConnect="true" name="gtembed" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="409"></embed> </object>

Kind of disappointed in TGS this year. If it wasn't for MGS4, I don't think there would have been anything good (IMO) that really came out of the event. Of course, that could be said for some of the other events too ;). Didn't help that some developers/publishers from some major games promised to show their game (or aspects of their game) at TGS, and that never happened. I was really looking forward to seeing the enemies in LittleBigPlanet. :(
