Fans will make a case, just like they made a case for Luke Scott after he looked good in a really small sample size in March 2005. How'd that turn out? With a new general manager, there's going to be a long look at everyone in this organization, and jobs aren't going to be decided by a hot couple of weeks. Luke Scott: .906 OPS in June, .968 in July, .900 in August and .982 in September. If you want to talk about being hot, look at that... that's four consecutive months with All-Star level production, far superior to anyone else in this lineup. No one in the world is going to put that caliber of a player on the bench (in games that matter) heading into next season. Trade, perhaps, given the right return. But a fourth outfielder... I'd bet anyone just about anything that that won't be happening.
