I don't care about Spanoulis...I hope his name stops popping up in thread titles.

Greece lost to Lithuania and failed to qualify for the Olympics.

Spanoulils, 1 for 9, 2 points in 16 minutes of play.

I blame the Greek coach for not developing him more during earlier rounds.

How can you not qualify for the olympics !? Hell they even let Eddy the Eagle (sky jumper) into a couple of olympics -- he didn't even know how to ski.

Well, it's not as worst and hopeless as Tony Parker and France.

At least, Vissalis Spanoulis and Greece have still a chance to fight for the last 3 tickets to 2008 Olympics with 11 other teams: (Puerto Rico, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, New Zealand, South Korea, Lebanon, Cape Verde and Cameroon.)

I think amongst the 12 of them, Greece should not have much problem.

I think the three teams which will qualify are Puerto Rico, Germany and Greece.

What about Brazil with Nene, Splitter, and Barbosa? Or Canada if Nash plays? And Slovenia if BOKI!!! plays?

He played 9 games in 13 days, even Gasol looked like a scrub later on in the final and spain lost the gold to russia.
Spanoulis was first scorer ,third in assists and third in steals for Greece for the whole tournament
( he was third in TO's too if that makes u feel any better :D )
    Now enough with spanoulis .

Holy grape leaves! He only hit 30% from 3-point range? Over a 9-game span, using the shorter international 3-point line!

No wonder he couldn't hit them from NBA range.

And regarding that last game: VMac was TIRED? Gimme a break. Any good player should be able to do better than 2 points and 2 fouls, even if they're exhausted.

My guess: He was pouting because the loss in the previous game knocked them out of the championship game. He now has a demonstrable history of being a pouter who plays terribly when things aren't going his way. And he was supposed to be our floor leader?!?

Scola had to do something like 10 games in 12 days, too... and he looked pretty good even toward the end of the tourney.

The chubby Greek couldn't cut it.

not to be redundant...vspan is not good enough to be a rotation player on a good nba team. there is nothing wrong with that...he can still have a good european career and that is pretty darn good. but nothing about his play in that tournament is overwhelming

Greece didn't get the direct ticket to Beijing in this tournament, but they still have one last chance next summer. So they are not "failed", but fianl MVP's team is "failed" as they didn't qualify for that last chance.
