Why is Sacramento apparently not missing Chris Webber?

So you did. I saw the statistics at the beginning of the response and naturally went to the next posting.

University (...something about a stopped clock being right 8.3% of the time.) Blue

As a webmaster of a Kings fan page I must tell you guys how nice it is to read intelligent chat about the Kings on another team's forum.

Part of the reason the Kings are better is because they have instituted a new "Triangle" type offense which has been working well for them. With Vlade a very capable passing center (probably the best in the league) they are able to get open shots on nearly every possession. Having guys like Peja, and now Bibby, who can consistently make the open 20 footer makes the offense work. Bibby is also much more mobile without the ball than Jason was last year.

    Welcome to the board, Fireplug

How do you think Webber will fit the system when he gets back?

That is the million dollar question, now, isn't it? :)

All indications so far say he is tickled to death how well the team has been playing without him, and that he wants to fit in when he gets back. Just imagine if the Kings did nothing else but replace Pollard with him, and thus had Chris' great hands and hops in that spot. Pollard has had several missed layups, dropped passes and such which would not happen with Chris there. The team scoring average could be an easy 5-10 points more.

However, if the team decides to stand around when ever Chris gets the ball, like they did alot last year, then the offense could stagnate. It was probably more the fault of the rest of the team, than Webber, when they would isolate Chris last year on O. Bibby seems to move MUCH better without the ball than Jason did last year, so maybe that would be enough to keep the ball moving around. Peja is very aggresive too.

I see the Kings putting Vlade on one block, and Chris on the other, with the three outside shooters cutting back and forth, the ball passing in and out of the triangle on either side, until a wide open shot appears. Passing is the team's real strength, and I hope it stays that way when Chris returns.

I think with the decline of the Utah Jazz, Sacramento is emerging as the best team in the league at execution. And I think that indicates that the Kings will be enjoying home-court advantage for many playoffs to come. I'll be glad to see it. Maybe the Kings can give the Lakers a run for their money this year. I could see the Kings splitting the regular season series with L. A.

From your mouth to God's ears. :)

I am a Kings fan but also a realist. The Kings still seem to have a mental block when it comes to the Lakers. I am not sure if they believe they can win enough yet.

By the way, did you see the Rockets Broken Bus picture I put on my site? I hope the Rocket fans here will take it in the good natured fun it was intended. The Rockets are a good team, and even good teams have bad days. :)
