I'm shopping around for homeowners Insurance and wanted to see whose the best out there. I called Allstate this morning but they said they don't insure for brand new houses due to all the lawsuits filed after the hurricane.... Anyways I heard they were good but I can't use them so is there any advice out there?
State Farm has a very large market share. Shop around and take the cheapest deal you get (with the same limits) from an A rated carrier
I went with Germania. Cheapest I could find, and I got my inlaws switched and they ended up saving like $1400 a year.
I use Mercury for home and auto insurance, mainly because my sister sells it. But I've comparison shopped, and no one else comes close to their price. (And my house was damaged by Rita.)
If you can combine it with your auto insurance, that is the way to go. It gets you a good discount. I have both with State Farm and my rates are pretty damn low. Service has been no problem, but, then again, I haven't really had a need for them, yet.
my mortgage is with countrywide so I decided to get their home insurance as well. 300 cheaper than my previous one.
