I've been a fan of the Texans since his rookie season, but Ill admit I lose interest once they put themselves in such a hole they can't get out of. Since his rookie campaign, Dunta has been my favorite player. Since he is, I'm very bias towards him, possibly thinking he's better then he really is. As far as starting CB's... where is there a total of 64? (2 per team, 32 teams) where does he rank? I think he has awesome defense, even when his man burns him, its usually not because he isnt good enough, its just he is just so physically smaller then his man he is guarding. He has never missed a game since being in the NFL. Considering he is so small, and got nabbed IMO of defensive rookie of the yr in 2004, I believe he is top 2 CB in the game today. How wrong am I? And no "him being tied to a chair" jokes!

i think Texan fans overrate him. He's good but he's not THAT good. He played like pooh last year, I thought.

I'd put him in the second tier.

    1st tier:
    Chris McAllister
    Champ Bailey
    Fred Smoot
    Asante Samuel
    Rasheen Mathis
    Lito Sheppard
    Charles Tillman
    Samari Rolle

    2nd tier:
    Dunta Robinson
    Dre Bly
    Nate Clements
    Nick Harper
    Al Harris
    Quentin Jammer
    Andre Dyson
    Ricky Manning

He's very, very close to breaking into the elite category though.

he's not among the top tier cover corners but he is in the top tier of corners when it comes to tackling.

he's the best we've got so we tend to make him out to be better than he is, but he's good. he'll make a couple pro bowls in his career though, he keeps getting better.

I hope he'll teach that other rookie DB we got from SC a thing or two. Our other starting CB isnt that great. Maybe next yr, this new guy can get other CB spot, and we can draft a saftey in the first rd.... we'll be pretty bad ass then on D. D wins championships (or so they say, someone did, not sure who)

Robinson is a Pro Bowl level CB....and when his ex Gamecock teammate Freddy Boy begins to start on the other side...along with Boulware getting acclimated and one more quality safety thrown in the mix,the Texans defense will dominate like many won't believe. This team,if it stays healthy is on it's way.

By midseason we will be among the elite defenses in the League.....The Texans are going to the playoffs and it's going to be because of a monster D...the kind that contends for Super Bowls.

    ....and oooh their soooo young!

This is a hard hitting defense...That kind of thing is contagious. You could see it in the second half of last year and now the Texans are taking it to the next level as they add more talent. Those turnovers are going to be a regular deal.

I almost orgasmed reading this. Most optimistic opinion I've heard this yr about our team thus far, other then my own crazy thinking.

Speaking of Dunta, I recall a defensive hit he put on someone a few yrs ago, that I can't find video of ANYWHERE. He hit a guy, helmet to helmet so hard and immature, that both players were knocked unconscience anyone remember this? Know what yr, game, player it was?

IMO Dunta is a top 15-20 DB.

The defense works as a unit and when the DL is putting pressure on the QB and the passing game it makes the DBs on the field that much better. When you have a pass rush, it creates more opportunities for the secondary to make interceptions.

That being said I've always liked Dunta's ability to put a hat on someone. I was jumping up and down cheering when he took down Tony Gonzalez who is seven inches taller and 50-60 pounds heavier than him. Dunta also tells it like it is, he said what he had to say about Carr and was quick to point out that they expected this type of play out of Mario and that he needs to stay consistent.

I agree 100% with this..even though I don't think he's among the elite yet, the fact that all the other secondary players on our team are all bottom tier shows how good he is, and with just a little help (Boulware), I think he's going to have a break out year and be among the best for years to come.

Very good at tackling considering his size but his overall coverage skills are still a question mark. He's had the disadvantage of playing with a near non-existent D-Line so without pressure there's no way anyone can keep up with receivers as long as he has had to.

We'll see how he does this year. I still don't know what to think about him.

I think he's the best corner at making tackles, and he is good agaisnt the run on third downs.

he's a great tackler. willing to support the run and is unafraid of laying the wood on anybody. his cover skills are decent, not great. i would probably put him in the 12-14 range as far as CB's go. is he a #1 corner? i dont think he is, but he is a very very good #2 CB. he's not a playmaking CB, but he does prevent alot of big plays.

D-Rob is a Top 20 CB. He is a great tackler and a good run supporter but is also inconsistent in terms of coverage.

He had an off year last year, no doubt. But he had a great preseason and looked good against KC, so hopefully 2006 is behind him. He seems to have his mojo back.

He's a 2nd tier CB, but I challange you to find a better tackling CB who isn't bigger than him. Pound for pound, one of the best hitters in the league IMO. I couldn't believe how he laid the wood to Gonzales on Sunday. HOF TE's shouldn't be getting taken down like that by 5-10 CB's.

He's my favorite Texan. When I played in the pep band, he always hung out and talked to us by the locker room after the games.
