I think Francis will get at least as much minutes at SG than PG. James should take at least half the PG minutes, and lets see whether Brooks or Francis should get the bulk of the rest. Either could flurish, but both have even more questions than Mike James--Francis because he hasn't been as healthy and is TO prone as a PG, Brooks because he is a rookie and small. Also, I like Bonzi more as a back-up SF than back-up SG. I like to see more shooters on the floor in the guard spots--James, Francis, Head, Brooks.

One area I have some concern is PF depth. I would like to have another vet PF who is decent all around-- offense (needs a jump shot), defense and rebounding. The most reasonable addition I can think of would be Donyell Marshall. Alston plus any combination of JL3, Novak, Reed, Snyder for him would be great. Getting SAR or Howard back for those type deals would work for me too. Najera is another (Rafer + JL3 for him).

Mostly I think we can take a wait and see approach. James, Francis, Brooks, Wells, Scola--there are minor to major questions for all as to what they can do. Now if some of them don't come through we are OK in the guard spots, with Alston and Head being legit NBA players. I would trade them for good offers, but I'd rather keep them for insurance than take a less than fair value deal.

Based largely on summer league, I really don't expect Landry to be a contributer this year. Landry was really not impressive when most the even back-up quality NBA PFs like Amir Johnson, Craig Smith and Jason Maxiell just tore up their competition. I would prefer to trade his rights for a future 2nd than give up a roster spot or have to buy out someone like Reed just to make room for him.

    MY ROTATION
    PG: James, Francis*, Brooks*, Rafer**
    SG: Tmac, Francis*, Head
    SF: Battier, Wells*, Snyder*, Reed*
    PF: Scola*, Hayes, Butler*, Reed*
    C: Yao, Deke, Butler*
    * are major unknowns as to the quality and/or type-role of minutes they can give. Rafer is solid player, but I don't think he will be on the roster.

Foster is more of a C than PF, he would have been a very good fall back had Deke not resigned. Since we have Deke, I am OK but not as ethusiastic because in Hayes and Deke we have great rebounding and defending back up PFs and Cs already. I would do Rafer + JL3/Novak/Reed or Snyder for him--but I wouldn't give up Luther. Luther + Novak/JL3 for Ike Diagu (better offensive player, rookie contract, more upside), yes.

We need a PF that can play interior defense and hit the boards.

    Also a swingman with athleticism.

.....Look out for Aaron Brooks for this guy will impact the game in a big way.Guys like TMac and Yao will get easy buckets galore.

Get ready for the parade downtown.

You're awfully optimistic considering the lack of playoff success we had in the past few years.

Yao avoid those injuries, TMac not hurt his back... and Scola can be out of foul trouble and stay on the court...

i think we need to wait and see how Francis, James and Bonzi really perform, the optimism round here is awesome but lets not forget all three and dreadful last seasons and there is a chance they are on a steep decline due to knees, weight and old age....

I really hope the 3 of them can give contributions at both ends of the court but I am willing to wait and see what shape bonzi is in, if Stevie has any lateral movement (and desire to NOT play matador D) and if James can knock his shots down (or was that one year in toronto a fluke?)

I also want to see how Luther responds to the now crowded back court

if for some reason they are fail, then Morey will need to pull another rabbit out of the hat.

T-Mac needs to have a heart to heart with Peyton Manning on shedding the "choker" label. Maybe put him in a Texans simulated game and have him return a fumble recovery for a TD?

We have everything we need. Let coach sort it out.

The team should be able to trade punches with the heavy hitters, and either Tmac or Yao can land the knockout vs Phoenix, Dallas, and San Antonio. They don't match up well vs our stars.

Long, lanky athletic PF who is at least 6'10" and can block shots/rebound.

You got that right, brother! I loved Bobby Sura. If only his body had held up. My kind of basketball. I don't like the "celeb on tour" approach, that we have seen a bit too much the last season or two. Way too casual.

Remember those old movies where the squid was about the size of a battleship? The special effects were pretty lame, but they scared me anyway.
