Staubach was a running QB in college (and the best player at the time) with no where near VY's college passing resume. Staubach acquired an outstanding the passing game later. McNair, McNabb, Steve Young, Culpepper, Cunningham--those are some of the true runner passing QBs (500 or near rushing yards, plus lots of passing yards). Only 1 superbowl between them, but hardly their fault they didn't get more (except for Culpepper, who along with his great talent has this amazing unclutchness and piss off your teammates factors--very opposite of VY). Elway, Staubach, Tarkinton, and Bradshaw (lots of superbowls visits and wins between them) certainly would make some big plays running down field, even if they scmabled to pass more than they scrmabled to run. Well put. These guys had cannon-like amazing arms. Vick had touch, timing and decison making issues. I hate to defend Vick in any manner of form, but the degree he helped his running back mates get open space since he has been in the NFL and contributed to his team get Ws continues to be underestimated. I heard one media buffoon last week say now that he is gone Atl won't be handicapped and they will be a playoff team this year. Yeah right. Now if Vick further developed his passing he would have been devastating, but as it was he was still effective and made Atl better than all but a short list (handfull or two at the most) of QBs would have done.
Actually had a mildly heated discussion with a guy at a bar Sunday over which TV the Titans game and Texans game should be on, the big screen vs a smaller side screen. His argument was that we all could have stayed home and watched the Texans on our TVs because it was on network where as he HAD to come to bar to see his blessed VY. Dude was all decked out in VY gear too. Luckily sanity won out and we all got to watch the home town team on the big screen.
I don't own any NFL gear. However, they have some cheap Texans jerseys at the Reebok Outlet. I think u can get Domanic Davis jerseys for $7. I'd sport the burnt orange or the Rocket Red (Vintage).
Read my first comment in that post. I think some quarterbacks are mobile and some are not I think some are mobile and would rather run and some are can be mobile but would rather be typical pocket passers. I may have miss interpreted you but I thought you were saying that quarterbacks liked to run themselves rather than pass due to the post you were replying to. If you were simply saying that quarterbacks ran more rushing plays than passing plays, then yes that's true. I think Drewdog was speaking about running quarterbacks, like Vick for example, instead of rushing plays. What evidence are you wanting?
Tinman - Keep giving them hell!!! I love it!! Wizkid - You are absolutely right. VY is electrifying and a special kind of player. He may not have the fantasy game stats but he has a certain way of continuing to get the W's. That is the one stat that means the most to us Titan fans!!!
his TD was the score that gave the Titans the lead for good. also Chris Brown ran for 175 yards. Is ya man on the flo? If he ain't... Let me know Let me see if you can run it, run it girl indeed I can run it, run it girl indeed I can run it, run it
Thats my point exactly - This style of a "Runner/Passing QB" historically has not produced many Super Bowl winners. Just looking at the 80's through today, most of the QB's that have been to MULTIPLE Super Bowls have been what many would call traditional style QB's: Joe Montana John Elway Jim Kelly Troy Aikman Kurt Warner Tom Brady Im not saying VY can't do it, Im just looking at history...
Jax was 2nd in the NFL in defense last year. TEN ran for like 300 yards. Why do you think that was? The ability of Chris Brown and Lendale White? The stellar offensive line of Tennessee? The threat of the passing game freeing up room to run?
When did MNF start so early? I'm home at 6pm and it's already started? Must suck for the west coast people.
