just a little teary-eyed when i saw that we had a real offense for the first time ;) Schaub threw one 15 yards downfield to AJ? Ahman Green busted a 10 yard run? Schaub beat a blitz? The game wasn't full of check-downs? The QB was making real reads?

Wow.. just great. The defense was showing signs last season, so it's great to see improvement. The offense was just beautiful because of so much improvement from last year.

Long way to go and improve...but a good start still

Texans got 10 points on turnovers. The MW TD was a complete gift from heaven, since turning to see the freight train before it hits you is not a "football move".

Schaub looked great on the AJ TD but like compete crap on the under thrown, extremely poor decision INT. Schaub might have been throwing the ball out of the end zone and just underthrew it. That would clear his bad decision and just be another underthrown pass.

OL gave up two sacks. Schaub also had one deflection (channeling Carr I suspect) and got flushed out of the pocket 3-4 times (more channeling Carr), which also lead to 2 penalties from Pitt for illegal down field blocking.

Some of Schaub's throw were low and some were behind and some were both. His near god-like decision making not withstanding, his accuracy needs work.

10 points, 13 first downs, and 315 yards from offense. Pretty marginal. Texans will need to improve to get to 500 or better this season.

I personally thought he was trying to put it in the back of the end zone for an AJ jump ball, since Johnson was well behind his man. I think Schaub just badly underthrew the pass since he was on the run.

Really great win to start the season. Andre has to be ecstatic with Nuevo Ocho.

Nice playcalling, nice execution, fantastic to see Mario have a big game.

Being fair: LJ was not even 80%, and Herm Edwards is killing this team. They're not going anywhere this season.

I'll take it - we really can make a run at a winning season this year.

It was really nice to be able to cheer for a real NFL offense for the 1st time in 5 years. No, they weren't perfect, but they played efficiently and had a nice balance of run vs. pass.
But the most promising thing I've noticed in the pre-season and today is how our defense is becoming more opportunistic. Even when they were average, they were a bend-but-don't break defense. Now, we are making some game-changing plays with sacks, forced fumbles, and interceptions. If the defense can keep this up, it'll be huge!

    Totally agree.

Another thing I noticed was that the Texans got flagged twice for having ineligible men downfield because the offensive linemen are used to Carr taking off when the protection breaks down while Schaub will move around when protection breaks down not to scramble but to buy time for a receiver to get open. That's a huge difference from what used to happen with Carr as the QB and it's a welcome change indeed.

Don't forget. There's another player in the running.

11-18 for only 78 yards and a pick...

    Mario - 1
    Bush - 0
    Player Who Won't Be Named - 0

The "player who won't be named" did score a TD today (didn't do much else though, as judged by his 78 yards of passing).

On NFL network, M. Hodge (sp?) stated the Texans look to be the surprise team of the NFL.....

I don't want this, I want the nation, and national media to NOT catch on to the potential of the Texans! I want to creep!.....

Why can't some of you naysayers just enjoy one of the best games that the Texans have put together in some time?

Why nitpick a great win over a team that was in the playoffs last season?

    Go Texans.

...and for those in Austin, Sam's Boat off of Mopac had the game on their big screen with sound. $6 pitchers and not crowded.

The Chiefs are not gonna be world beaters this year...but you can only beat the team you have scheduled and this was an awesome performance. In previous years the Texans would have been eaten alive by even a 70 percent LJ.

Yes, the Chiefs suck big time this year - but the Texans did exactly what a superior team should do in this situation --- dominate.

Its foolish to say that.. its week 1.. just as foolish as it was for everyone to get bent out of shape when the Texans lost to the "crappy" Chargers on opening day in 2004.. those same crappy chargers turned out to be one of the AFC's best teams..

The Texans beat a good team today, the kind of team they're going to have to beat in order to make the playoffs. I give them full credit for that.

Great game today. The Texans looked like a different team out there today, than the one we have been rooting for the past 5 years.

I thought the offense was a little nervous at first, but settled down. The good thing was to see the defense actually make some plays. I still wish the D-Line would get a little more push, but hey I will not complain at the defense today.

    Bring on Carolina.

He's writing them off as a terrible team one week into the season.. look at what they did last year.. what basis does he have to judge them now as a "bad" team, other than the fact they lost to US?

So is every team we beat going to be "bad"?
