The point is - neither of these things seems like a very likely scenario. If you have evidence otherwise, that 14 year old girls trolling for 50 year old ass on the internet is a regular occurrence, then, well I guess my concerns are seriously undercut.

Real life horny 14 year old girl geriatraphiles? I have not seen or heard or read very much about the existence thereof. I am sure there are a few by virtue of mathematical probability, but I would guess this is a pretty small fraction.

The old perverts actually initiate the contact with the little girls, all communication begins with them. So they are really creating the situation.

Are there real little girls that actually have sex with old men on the internet? I'd like to see some statistics on it.

In any case, the people who see molestors around every corner make me kind of sick.

 

Real- life 14 year olds who are victimized by sexual predators certainly DO exist.

They dont have to be geriatraphiles, that is r****ded.

 

And I am guessing a most of those are victimized by family members and friends rather than pervs from the internets. There's just such a paranoia about the internets.

 

they called the attorney 3 times pretending to be the kid he thought he was talking to on the internet. they initiated the contact...begging him to come over. he never did. they showed up at his house with the SWAT team instead.

 

They continued the contact after he would have let it drop. My understanding is that they NEVER initiate the contact. They didn't call him out of the phone book, he had previously committed a crime by having sexually explicit internet chats with someone he thought was a minor. That case is the worst they have done, and still they are not really the bad guys in that situation, the guy trolling the internet for underage kids is. If he hadn't done anything wrong, he wouldn't have killed himself to avoid getting caught. I'm not saying they handled it in the best possible way, and in fact I said they shouldn't go after anyone that doesn't show up at the house, if I had my druthers.

 

I have no sympathy for the douches on this show. I personally think its hilarious. Anyone who has sexually explicit chats with underrage children and show up at their house should be dealt with. I know what folks are saying, "they're not really underrage, just actors. blah blah blah". So what? It's just like how cops set up drug dealers. They aren't really buyers but they put the "bait" out there and the dealers get busted when they take the "bait". In this situation, its much worse because its children, even if its a sting.

They're all idiots that should be busted and embarrassed for everyone to see. I'd place this show in the Comedy genre because it's that funny. And it doesn't really matter how many actual 14yr old girls would really have sex with an old man. Fact is, these guys thought they were going to and they went along with it. What the hell does the actual statistic of very young girls having sex with very old men have to do with this? Sorry, there is no way to justify their actions. Yes, they were setup, baited, ect. but that is how you catch the bad guys. Sad story about the man who killed himself but he put himself in that situation.

 

I just saw various news clips on this Xavier guy who is the founder of Perverted Justice. I must say this guy sure comes off as a total douche. He doesn't know how to debate at all.. when questioned he goes for the cheap personal attacks. It's easy to assume judging the way he carries himself that his motives could possibly be for the wrong reasons.

I'm all for catching pedophiles and locking them up, but Perverted Justice is not the answer. Their tactics are crude and ill-mannered. I say if they want to catch predators, lets leave it to the professionals and law enforcements to deal with. Not some amateur group whom arguably is doing this for more of the entertainment side.

not saying they handled it in the best way possible? that's a bit of an understatement.

bottom line is these guys couldn't even put together a full chat session to hand to prosecutors. it's entertainment pretending to be law enforcement. it's a joke.

 

Sexually explicit internet chats would likely have gotten him a somewhat different charge leveled against him than if he had gone to an underaged person's house to have sex with them. So, when NBC calls him up to tell him to come over, aren't they initiating a different crime from the one he was already guilty of?

MadMax, if the prosecutors would just sign that contract with NBC to let Chris Hansen run the prosecutions, they wouldn't have all these problems with incomplete transcripts.
