Would you pay an obscene amount to get production? How about this trade?

Houston trades: Kelvin Cato $6,048,000 to Cleveland
Houston trades: Walt Williams $5,000,000 to Cleveland
    TOTAL: $11,048,000

Cleveland trades: Zydrunas Illgauskas $11,250,000 to Houston
    TOTAL: $11,250,000

    TRADE ACCEPTED

This does quite a few things for both teams.

    For Houston

We lose Walt, to give T-mo, Griffin and Torres some minutes to develop. Rice is not gonna be around for long, and Walt will be gone next year anyway. We might as well let one of thses guys get the feel for the NBA game so they can be adequate backups next season. I've stated time and time again that I support Cato, mostly because I know thart if he reaches his potential, his salary is a bargain. But I'm all for improving ateam, and we can't wait any longe r for Cato to develop, for the team's sake. Rudy is obviously frustrated with him, and we're not in a position to give players time to improve. In return, we et Illgauskas. I know about all the injury problems. But, right now, since we're getting little production from Cato anyway, we can Start Willis, and bring Collier off te bench. I beleive in Collier. He can be a good player, and he's already a capable backup. He showed that last year. So we put Illgauskas on the IR indefinitely, no pressure to comeback, and we (hopefully) after the All-Star break, slowly bring him along so that he'll be ready for the end of the season and the next one too.

    Next year:

    Illgauskas/Willis/Collier
    Taylor/Griffin/Collier
    Rice/T-mo/Taylor
    Mobley/Torres
    Francis/Moochie
*Listed by order of minutes per position.

As I've said before, KT is gonna very soon become the odd man out. So it would be in our and his best interest to let him go.

    For Cleveland

They would like to let Illgauskas go so that they can develop Diop. Doleac will probably not stick around for long. Cato would be a good option, and with a PG like Miller, he'd get a lot of open looks to score. Personally, I think they're ready to let Illgauskas go so that they can start the Twin Towers 2 (Diop and Mihm) soon. Plus they'd be releived of 5 million in capspace when Walt's contract ends.

Basically, they trade for capspace, and we trade the capspace we have for production. What are the chances that this guys is gonna break his leg AGAIN? I'm positive it won't be a problem when he's put in a no-pressure situation, where he doesn't have a schedule to return.

The only problem is his contract. Would we be willing?

At this point, I would be willing to trade Cato and Walt to Memphis for a healthy Big Country. At least BC has a higher level of output when he is playing that Cato. Only problem is he is locked into $12 million/year for the next few years.

More that 50/50. He's broken his foot, what ,3 times? If he tries to play, then #4 wouldn't be a surprise. Ever heard of Sam Bowie?
