all i know is most of the time when a team has the player who averages the most PPG the rest of the team suffers. so i hope Dirk ends up as the player that wins that title :]

Kobe will be top scorer again for the Lakers. They got no other go to guy there. Lakers still suck. It's T-Mac and Yao that will take a hit on point production because there will be balanced scoring now from the Rockets.

I think it'll be Lebron this year. Expect an average of about 32 ppg.

Physically, Kobe is at his peak. The dude says he has changed his diet and lost 20lbs in order to get back the speed and agility he had back in 2000 without losing strength. If his performance in the FIBA tournament is any indication then he was successful.

I think you will see the best Kobe we ever have/will see this season. I think he is going to lead the league in scoring and bring back the type of defense he used to play. 32PPG, 5.5 boards, 5 assists and some sick defense.

The only question is what team he is going to put those stats up for.

I can't see anyone else topping Kobe for top scorer in the league, except maybe LeBron, because Kobe's supporting cast sucks and he needs to score 30+ points per game for the team to be competitive.

Gilbert Arenas has made it loud and clear he will be testing the waters this coming summer. He is in the east. His team isn't very good. They have nothing to lose. Connect the dots.

Your 2008 scoring champion is... Gilbert Arenas

i agree with agent 0. no way melo, wins it, with iverson on his team. i think another possible sleeper is rashard lewis. he averaged high nubmers in the west, and in the east with a crappy team, that has a beast that plays good defense, but ok offense, lewis could actualy win.

I think his FIBA tournament showed that he's quite a bit weaker than he was before. He struggled finished after contact and couldn't dip his shoulder and drive as effectively as before. He also didn't have to carry the load on offense, so his defense was quite a bit better than it's been in years. He'll go back to playing his gambling style of defense with the Lakers.

I see 31, 5, 5 again with 44% shooting and average defense. He should lead the league in scoring unless LeBron gets hot early on.

If Kobe wants it that bad, no one is going to stop him or top him.

He could drop 50s all night long if he wants, and not a single person in this planet could do that constantly.

Its between Lebron and Kobe, but I think Kobe is goin to win it, but the lakers dont advance to the second round (maybe even the playoffs)

It's August, though. He's played deep into the playoffs from 1997-2004 and I agree with your observations, but I can't see anyone else taking the crown. LeBron possibly. I do think LeBron will pop back up to the lead in PER, in spite of the lack of offensive help around him (which will hurt his assist totals).

He isn't weaker than he was 3-4 years ago when he was killing people at the rim. Sure, the weight loss has to have affected his strength somewhat but not much.
