I agree. When Smush Parker, who has even a lower bball IQ than our very own Rafer, starts as your pg and then with Luke Walton as your next best player after Kobe/Odom... That spells incompetence of the FO no matter how you look at it.
You know the writer is being a sensationalist when the article doesn't contain a single paragraph that goes beyond two lines.
My point on this was not that the Lakers and Bulls were the same. Nor whether PJ is in his prime or still a good coach. I suspect he is still a good caoch, but it is awfully hard to tell when Kobe Bryant is supposed to be the team leader. The point above you seem to have misinterpreted was that friction between an owner/GM and a coach does not neccesarily effect the morale of the team (coaches/players)--the writer was blowing this issue out of proportion. The last Bulls and Pistons winners both showed that.
I heard from a reliable source that Kobe bought Phil a HUGE diamond ring recently. Wonder what that means.........
Well he's on a talk show for crying out loud. What else is he supposed to say? Dodge all the questions? He answered them truthfully and kudos to Phil.
Read it before it disappears. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-28-20/Now-It-s-Phil-s-Fault-.html
I agree the Lakers shouldn't make that trade with the Pacers, which is exactly why I want them to. Count me on the Bynum bandwagon. That being the case, what is PJ "still looking for" 3 weeks before camp if it doesn't include a Bynum trade? The salary cap has them locked up.
It's a spoken phrase, not one that was thought out. It's like me saying in mid-December, "I'm still looking for Stromile Swift to cash in on all that potential." It's mid-December, the time to get in shape and learn new moves is the summer time. I don't think Phil is expecting or asking for a trade tomorrow.
This is a poorly written article in my opinion. Alot of speculation about Phil Jackson, who happens to be a genius at getting his player's minds set in the right direction. Kobe and Phil are some of the most competitive, stubborn bastards you'll find.... If they are losing, they will stir the **** storm
Well maybe the Lakers ought to go Euro as well. Everyone else is doing it. Maybe they shoulda tried to get Theodoros Papaloukas of CSKA Moscow who was MVP for the season, or Dimitris Diamantidis for more power at the pt guard position. They could also get Nikola Vujcic to shore up the center/PF position. Course the Lakers got idiots in the front office so I don't ever expect that to happen.
Deep down inside both Phil Jackson and Kobe knew they were very fortunate just getting into the playoffs the past 2 seasons due ONLY to significant injuries to other teams both years (Rockets and Jazz in 2006, Hornets and Clippers in 2007) and that their luck is just about gone. Its gonna be a huge disaster this year for them. This team will implode by All-Star break.
What was he supposed to do? With those injuries, that was a 37-win team or so. What did they win, 42? 43? And what "mind games" was he pulling last year? I thought he was just trying to get the Lakers to play defense.
Wow! Have you seen the roster? Justin Reed could get some PT on that squad. Jesus would struggle trying to twist the Lakes into the playoffs...
