So far this season I have become a pretty big Kenny Thomas fan. The guy has an array of offensive skills and can take just about any other PF in the league to the hole. The problem is height on the defensive end, but I could live with that if he continues to play as well as he's been. The only problem is we just signed Maurice Taylor to a six year contract and we have Eddie Griffin, who is likely to be better than Kenny and Maurice combined. This means we have three high-quality power forwards. I think this means when Mo comes back, the odd man out will be Kenny Thomas.

If Kenny continues to play well, he will not be content next season to come off the bench for Taylor. I think all three of those players are starters in the NBA. I see a couple of possiblities for the future.

One, is shaping Eddie into a center. I don't really like this idea unless he grows two more inches and bulks up quite a bit. Two, move Kenny to SF. Its possible, but I think his offensive skills won't be near as productive against SFs as it was against PFs. If the Rockets did this, Maurice would be at PF and all three players would be starting. However, I don't think this is very likely, and its why I think Kenny Thomas should be traded in the offseason. There will be teams with quite a bit of interest in him.

I belive Marc Jackson will reject all trade offers that come in this season hoping the Rockets offer to trade for him next season when they are able. How about trading Kenny for Jackson? I don't know why the Warriors would want another forward, but I'm just thinkin' out loud here. That gives us a young Center for the future. We already have our point guard, shooting guard, and power forward of the future with Franics, Mobley, and Taylor. Then we move Griffin to SF. I had my suspicions about Griffin playing PF in the NBA, and after watching the way he shoots threes and his quickness I think it will be pretty stupid to play him at any position other than small forward in the future(unless he does grow to 7ft, then I don't think we would have any choice but to put him at center). This would give us a starting five for the next couple years consisting of: Francis, Mobley, Griffin, Taylor, Jackson. In my opinion, that would be incredible!

Does anyone agree with any of this? Sorry for the long post. Since I moved there's not any Rockets fans for me to vent all my frustrations and offer ideas to, so I probably get a little carried away. Sorry again.

Nice post. Sadly, I have nothing to add.

I know we can get something for KT, but what? Who would be equivalent value? If it's not for a center, I say keep KT, Mo played some center, and who knows what Griffin's body will do. KT could remain with us as a good 6th man.

Obviously if we trade him, it's not going to be this season. It's contribution so far is a must.

We just optioned K9's 4th year, just like Stevie. They are on the same schedule....amazin' isn't it?

K9 and Stevie are booked on rookie scale until Summer 2003, when we can make them restricted free agents.

btw: DLS is my front-runner, New Poster of the Year!!

KT is guarenteed a contract through next season, the 02-03 season.

As far as moving Kenny to SF, I think Mo would be better off at SF than Kenny. Mo's got better ball handling and shooting skills, while KT's got better rebounding skills. But, I really don't think eitehr of them should be moved to SF, since neither would match up with the Nowitzki's and all the tall, quick SF's of today. Sadly enough, if we had to trade one, I would pick Mo simply because we can get a better C for him. KT is a solid player, but I don't think his trade value is very high right now.

I have no doubt that the Rockets are trying to mold Eddie Griffin into a PF/C player, like a Wallace or a Duncan...rather than making him a PF/SF player, like KG. Good SF's are a lot easier to obtain nowadays than good C's.

    Oh, and BTW, nice post!

You know...this **** is pissing me off. Have you not been watching ANY basketball at ALL. Nitwitz did not playt SF last night...nor did he ANY TIME AT ALL this year. Nitwitz played center. Nitwitz did NOT guard Kenny last night, and Kenny DID NOT guard Nitwitz.

Kenny is as fast as any PF in the game...and as fast as many, small forwards.

Get your Dreamcasting, Fantasy, NBA 2002, Configurations file out of your ass and watch some basketball.

Nitwitz played center against Walt Williams...like Nitwitz really schoooooooooooooolooledd Walt!!!!!!!...and Kenny can guard that fool anyhow...Nitwitz lives on driving, not power...and if they thought he could school Kenny,,,,they damn sure would have guaranteed that mismatch...that mismatch that you call it.

    crispee,

Even though Dirk has played C this year, he still isn't your typical post-up and bang down low center. I'm sure he still gets the ball on the perimeter most of the time(I don't have League pass or anything, so I don't see every game). There is no way KT is going to be able to hold guys on the perimeter throughout the coarse of any game, much less a whole season. He may be quick for a PF, but he's still too slow to play SF full time.

My opinion is that we can keep all of them and put them on the same court at the same time. Look what we did in Dallas, we put Walt at Center. Since the new Zone defense, we can put any lineup in there and it won't matter.

None of what you are saying matters.

    Round One!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mismatching with Nellie!

Nitwitz at center and Kenny at PF scored a 37 point win!!!!!!!

Save your Dreamcaster theory for fantasy leagues.

If Kenny continues with the type of year he is having so far, you might be able to trade him for a top ten draft pick so you can get your center of the future.

K-9 is putting up some very nice numbers. He also may make himself tradeable for a guy like Curry if he keeps up what he is doing so far.

I would definitely re-sign him with a descent contract, Although I know he is for real and not one of Cato's showcasing ability.:p

Would you guys trade KT straightup for Horry? Horry seems to have what you guys like (good 3pter, some rebounding), and the Lakers don't need a scorer, just someone to feed Bryant and Oneal.

I;m guess not, since Horry's gittin' over the hill and KT's only going up!

No way do I trade KT for Horry at this point,I wouldnt take anything less than a decent 1st rounder.

KT may be playing pretty well so far this season but he is way out of the runing for most improved so long as Lorenzen Wright stays healthy.
