    Actually, I'm quite a "well-known" YOF in Taiwan's forum.
Since some Chinese fans want to bash my country when discussing Yao's summer activities, of course we Taiwanese have the right to explain.

Prynuen didn't understand the background of the story and have no idea about Taiwan's domestic laws...in order to make him and other Chinese fans understand what's really going on here, I need to explain to them.

To be simple, if Yao is invited by Nike, Reebok or Converse, and these companies offer a complete application to my government, Yao definitely will be allowed to attend commercial or charity activities.

Yao's absence in charity or commercial activites is Taiwan Basketball Association's bad...not because my government wants to block him for political purpose. Prynuen and other Chinese Fans just go too far.

    Now you have more ideas?

So Taiwan is the victim again?

That's not how I read it when the rejection came down. Someone please search naiveking's posts then.

    For your quick reference:

(1)Why did Taiwan government not allow Yao to talk about 2008 Olympics or
    the torch issue?

A:It's because currently Chinese government announces to the world that
Taipei (capital of Taiwan) is only an "internal stop" of torch in China.
Taiwan government refuses to take that, and wants China to change its
term. Since Yao is the "ambassador" of 2008 Olympics, Taiwan
government does not want to see him using his charm and popularity to
seduce more Taiwanese (especially young men who have no memory of
Chinese Civil War) to support Beijing's proposal.

(2)Why did Taiwan government not allow Yao to participate in charity or
    commercial activities?

A:It's because Taiwan Basketball Association, the institute inviting Yao to
Taiwan, ask Yao to promote the China-Taiwan exchanges of basketball
ONLY. In Taiwan, if you are a Chinese immigrant/ labor/ white collar and
want to participate in anything profitable, you have to apply for working
licenses first. Since TBA didn't fulfill the required procedure, of course
Yao cannot participate in fund-raising and commercial activities.

I love it how all these Chinese fans take cheap shots and egg on the Taiwanese, and then when the Taiwanese fan tries to rightfully defend his country (which is a DEMOCRACY, mind you) it's suddenly a B-ball only forum and he should get the hell out or whatever.

I understand this ALL belongs in D&D, but if America was being goated this way, you bet your ass there'd be a ton of people in here defending her.

Props to naiveking for standing up for himself and his democratic country.

    Communism sucks.

There is a thread on this same topic on D&D. Nobody is taking cheap shots. Told him to go to D&D. I mean, gees, there is a thread about the same freaking topic. Gees. This is about Yao Ming's Summer Activities. This thread topic have been on for years. Let's NOT force the thread to D&D.

That Teddy Bear is just disturbing. Might as well get Yao a real doll.

Please don't ever doubt about anyone's knowledge, how come do u know that Prynuen and others have no idea about what u so called "story"? Donot be pretentious, okay?

I absolutely long for democracy in mainland china, however, definitely not the type of democracy in taiwan. FYI, my girlfriend is from Tainan, :D so no worries about my understanding regarding taiwan.

opps, who said "period" just now? Do u really comprehend what period exactly means? I highly doubt about that, again, FYI, Period is used to show that you believe you have said all there which is to say on a subject and you are not going to discuss it any more. Got it? dear diplomat :p

It is time to me to say Period~

Oh, I think plenty of clutchfans know all about Real Dolls.

The shear spike in cost of materials would warrant the price raise.

Seducing Taiwan people? Taiwan is made up of what? Teenage horny girls or desperate housewives? Isnt Taiwan self-proclaimed free country like the America? If so, why not let "poor souls" in China see how Taiwanese live and enjoy freedom, especially a role model like Yao who is worshipped in China by billions.

It was some moronic moves by the foreign ministry of Taiwan to reject Yao in the first place and it backfired. Then they granted Yao visa under pressure but trying to save their faces with some restrictions. This is what it is. I despise the smallness of Taiwan's government and politicans.

    True democracy doesnt fear people.

    charity<>commercial activities

Please stop it!!! If you said China is Communism 30 years ago,I agree, but China is not communism now. I hope China is communism now,so that I can share YAO's huge salary. LOL..

Chinese people pay more attention to economy not politics now,but Taiwanese pay more attention to their own politics not economy. That's the reason why their economy is so turndown.

All Asian people knew the whole Taiwan has becomed to be a crazy island.Their government clamour Taiwan is a independent country everyday, they feeled very happy for their slogan, but they were scrared to modify their constitution named "Taiwan" instead of 'China". No country pay attention to them.

What a way to ruin a good thread started by Pryuen you folks from both sides of the Strait!

I don't want to say the "lock" word, but I pretty much have to since some of you decide porting the D&D thread into GARM is a fun idea to do.

    here's what i am hearing :

Q: Why isn't Yao allowed to promote 2008 Olympics, an non-political sports event?

because China is a big bad commie dictatorship country, taiwan has freedom and democracy.

Q: why isn't Yao allowed to raise fund for *Taiwan* charities in Taiwan?

because China is a big bad commie dictatorship country, taiwan has freedom and democracy.
