Manu has enjoyed a nice time in the summer, from hanging out with messi, to being selected as the face for Unicef, to currently, along with luifa(luis), building a school for kids in argentina. Today, he wrote on his website the following, where he praises Scola.

" you can't even imagine how much I suffered watching the semifinals against brasil. It was intense! I screamed and cursed, i was going insane. Thank god, that after it was all said and done, I was left in complete joy. These types of tournaments can be very unfair. This one, in particular, was very cruel. Everything can be going according to plans, but one minor slip, one game where focus is lost, and all the good will be dissipated by that one bad night. I didn't miss any of the games and watched the entire tournament. I'm so happy for these boys. I've been saying it since the beginning: I never had any doubts that this team would qualify to the olympics. I'm just amazed that they where able to do it in the manner that they did. It's so difficult for a team to go undefeated (i'm excluding the U.S games, which is a completley different story)

In our golden era, when these games were played in previous tournaments, we always found a way to skid in a game or two. You can beat brasil, but end up losing to canada or Puerto Rico. I remember that we once lost to Mexico and Venezuela. Maybe we lost because we knew that in the end we could always recover; but not these guys, they never lost sight of the objective. They were able to come back against panama, who almost got away with one.

Part of their success was the ability to keep calm under pressure. Rarely do you see a team with little experience, not including scola, delfino, and prigioni, stay the course with the script given to them. Each one knew their role. let's give them all the credit, they were patient and resolved every problem with great authority..

I'm so impressed with luisito that he deserves his own little section. It has been clear as day, since athens, that he would eventually become the leader of this team. He is three to four years younger than the rest of us, but plays with much more experience due to his NT entry at the age of 19. Via email, I was able to keep in touch with him during the tournament. I also called him to send my congratulations when they defeated brasil. His play in this tournament was enormous. He knows that I love him and that I respect him for the great player that he is." - manu-

Chapu and oberto also gave their praises:

" Luis demonstrated to be an elite talent and a prominent leader. He played his heart out and carried this team. They put me through so many emotions; It was my first time following the team from afar, incredible. I'm proud of what our team was able to accomplish.- El Chapu

" He is a "caballo"( stud). who better to tell you than me, I had to guard him everyday in practice playing for Tau" - Oberto

Don't worry - I still hate you, Manure.

I wonder will I be able to cheer for Scola & Argentina like I did in the FIBA Americas when they get this obnoxious flopper back...

for some reason it looks shopped to me. i dont think there has been a recent all star game where team jerseys have been worn so it wasnt at an all star game. not many other places it could be imo

Full circle. We gave them James Silas in the early 70s in order to keep Johnny Egan....

Looks like Scola has his nickname. El Caballo.
But can he share the nick with Carlos Lee?
Un Caballo del Beisbol y un Caballo del Baloncesto.

    They're both wearing home jerseys.

I don't think the Rox had those unis yet. We didn't get them til 03-04. Were those guys in the 04 Rookie/Soph game?

Another quote of Ginobili about Scola:

"It was fair that Scola was chosen MVP of the Olympic Qualifyer because he was the most important player for his National Team. It hurt a bit that the Spurs let him go. I would have paid for Luis coming to play with us. It makes me happy that the team had the kindness to let him make his dream in another franchise. But if I'm selfish, I wanted him to be next to us".
