You guys are really optimistic! I'll go with 7-9 with some pretty close games. Until we dramatically improve our pass rushing and secondary we'll never be a playoff team. Babin had 5 sacks and was our leader. Though we just traded him for a safety. I do have alot of faith in Kubiac. He's building us a solid defense, we just need a couple more drafts to fill our holes. I'm guessing in 2-3 years, depending on free agency, we'll make the playoffs for the 1st time.
reposting from the NFL season prediction thread.. essentially, mini ming is here only for the rockets and is a YOF. stop trolling the texans/astros boards mini ming, there's no point.
being optimistic...7-2 before the brake isnt too ridiculous. indy and SD are the only 2 teams that you "know" they will lose to. rest of the way 4-3 at best. more realistic. they lose a couple of games they "could" win and go 9-7. Maybe its blind optimism but it not a complete joke. but 8-8 is the baseline, imo. thats very attainable
The Key is to take care of business at home ... at least 6-2 preferably 7-1. It's time to have a REAL home field advantage! That means fans wreak havoc! Remember season 2 and 3 and all the false starts and delay of game penalties WE, the fans caused that. The only games we possibly can lose or would have an excuse to lose is ... Denver, NO or Indy but, we really need to run the table in our division at home to get recognized by the talking heads in a good way.
Even though I've heard all the 6 and 7 win predictions, my gut tells me this is a 9-7 team. We have the skill position guys on offense to score on good defenses and I think the defense is at least middle of the pack with the potential for top 10. My big key on offense is Green and the line. If Green and the line stay healthy I think our offense is going to really click. Seeing Schaub in preseason, it's obvious to me he is a far more intelligent QB than Carr. I don't think he'll have trouble reading the blitz like Carr did. I don't think he'll make the stupid plays, the drive and game killing type plays that Carr made so often. I think we can WIN with Schaub at QB as opposed to trying not to lose the game with Carr. We used to just give away possessions because we were terrified of what Carr would do when he dropped back to pass. No more of that. I really like Jacoby Jones as I'm sure everyone does. I really think he's going to be a special player. I can't even remember the last time we had a playmaking type receiver in Houston, maybe Ernest Givins? Then throw in our TE situation and I can again hardly remember the last time we had any team in Houston with such a well balanced attack on offense. I really like the offense a lot. The big key on defense has to be Mario. If he goes Julius Peppers on everyone, the defense is going to be really damn good. I honestly don't think he has it in him though so I think the defense will be middle of the pack, maybe a little better than average. Nobody really knows what Amobi is going to do out there. I really wish we had taken Patrick Willis instead of Amobi. Putting Willis next to Ryans would have given us a killer tandem for a long time. That would have been really exciting. I liked the Boulware trade. I hope the defense can keep us in games because I think the offense can win some games for us.
