Kubiak, like a number of coaches these days, doesn't keep a third QB on the active roster because it is so rare to need one in a single game. Their emergency QB is tight end Owen Daniels. Don't know if it had been mentioned, but the Texans brought back Abatte and Stanley and put them along with Brandon Harrison on IR meaning they are with the team, but out for the year.
I like Brandon Mitchell. I think he looked good and will provide depth. Jones will be our #1 but he'll split time with mathis. He's going to be a big part of our offense so it makes sense to use Mathis (I think a lot of people forgot how good mathis is). Hopefully he can make some noise on offense too but his hands have never been good. Cuttin McCardell shocked the hell out of me. I thought he was a lock. Great possession receiver plus a good guy and a good mentor for a guy like Jones. He has to be better then Walters. Leftwich was cut and I think we should go after Darius,
http://www.houstontexans.com/team/DepthChart2007.asp? an updated texans depth chart, but it shows jj still as a 2nd stringer at wr?
Yeah, Kubiak has said a few times that Walter will remain the "starter", but no doubt Jacoby will find his way to the field. I think ultimately we'll see a lot of 3 WR sets...one thing Jacoby will have to get a little better at is blocking up field, so we can leave him in on all of the running plays too.
what's up with the texans putting stanley on ir? if they need insurance at the punter position, just call geico! one of their workers can kick better than chad.
Boulware is listed as the back up to Simmons. I'd like the website and/or Kubiak to go ahead and change that.
http://www.houstontexans.com/tv/index.asp?mm_file_id=1663&play_clip=Y Released LT Scott Jackson, claimed LT Rashad Butler off waivers from Carolina. Former 3rd round pick from Miami...looks like he's a project, but more upside than Jackson I guess. He was actually the next tackle picked after we got Spencer and Winston last year, and played with Winston at Miami.
i am sure the texans want him to be familiar with the defensive schemes before automatically placing him 1st string. kubiak probably didn't want to hurt simmon's feelings, too.
