I'm thinking of going to Trader Joes and picking up a huge box of cookies for Bill and Calvin on Friday. How does that work? Has anyone ever done that before? How do you approach them? Do they still take cookies with all that's been going on lately? I want to be mentioned on the air if possible.
get to the game early and just do it, walk down to the seats behind the announcers table and if someone stops you tell them what you have, or get bill and calvin's attention. I'm sure they'll take a minute to talk to you and accept the cookies. Tell them you're Rockets fans, etc... and then enjoy the game... we'll post and tell you if they say anything on TV... You do know why Calvin gets cookies don't you? Calvin's wife's name was Cookie and when she passed, folks would bring cookies to help cheer Calvin up and it's stuck, people have done it ever since. rH
They took my cookies, but I had to lie. The gatekeepers told me to ask some person if I could bring the cookies in, he said no. We told the gatekeepers that he said yes, and they were like, great, go on in. I met Calvin and he was like: Are you trying to make me fat?? jokingly and he took them and ate them up during the game last night
That's right, I forgot about the no-outside-food rule, plus Key Arena is searching bags. I don't know how I'd get the bloody things into the game. Damn!
ZRB, Have you actually been to a Sonics game this year? Cause the Rockets said they were having additional security as well, but I can't tell one difference between this year and last year. Anyway, you can probably get your name on TV if you just show up early, even without cookies. Both of them and the team are really nice on the road, from my experience. When they went to DC in Francis' rookie season (I was on vacation), I managed to get Steve, Cuttino, and Shandon's autographs. I also went about an hour or so early, and when I yelled at Bill and Calvin they came up in the stands and talked to me for a while. They're really nice guys. Try to get the cookies in, and if you can't, just tell them the story and I'm sure they'll mention your name, Zaine.
I'd love to retort to your mentioning of my name Cat, but I guess I could only call you SlamDuncan2121 or something. You b*stard! Yes I have been to a couple of Sonics games this year, and they check anyone with bags. They also have clearly marked signs reading: "No outside food or drink allowed". That wasn't the case last year. If I tried to sneak something into the arena, who knows what could happen. I could end up being arrested! I met Calvin in Portland in April, and got his autograph. He was in a rush to get out, but he still took the time to sign my packet of Post-its. Nice guy. I'm definitely going to arrive at the game early on Friday. Probably around 5 pacific time. I enjoy watching warmups, and I may try to get a few autographs. My problem is that I am a pretty shy person in real life. I'll have some family along with me, but I know I will have a lot of trouble approaching anyone famous. I may bring a big sign saying: "Calvin and Bill- best announcers ever!" That would probably get me on TV, since I'll be in the lower level. I'm just not going to take the risk of trying to sneak in any food. I could handle being arrested, but not if it forced me to miss a Rockets game!
Hey ZRB, wouldn't they sell some cookies at Key Arena? I know a lot of other arenas do; if nothing else, you could buy some from there (though it is expensive) and try that method.
ZRB-Stuff some cookies in your underwear, and then when you pass security, take them out and give them to Calvin.
You sick man... everyone knows you're supposed to shove it down a condom swallow it and then take a lax when you arrive at the arena. This way ít'll all come out once u arrive at the stadium and they stay warm as if they were freshly baked!!!!
