Does anyone know what codec to install and how to install it so I can view xvid.avi on Quicktime? I have a MacBook with Mac OS X version 10.4.10.

Thanks! I've been here but don't know what to do..

There's a link on that page that says XVid component for Quicktime, does it not work?

I'd just get VLC player, it plays everything.

I believe he'd still need the codec. The video player application is usually independent from the codecs.

Well I downloaded the Intel Binary of XviD/Avi Import Components, and the Readme said to drag the files into Library/Quicktime. I did that by creating a 'Quicktime folder' in my Library directory, since I dont' have a 'Quicktime' folder. But I'm still getting a blank screen in quicktie.

VLC Player should have the codec integrated with the software. I know I can watch xvid files on it and I don't remember downloading any specific codec.

Yeah, same for me. Also it will play fullscreen for free while you'd have tou buy the "Pro" version of Quicktime to get the same feature.
