No #4, Scola will do a better Job using that number.

    Barkley's Rockets averages:

    PPG 16.49
    RPG 12.21
    APG 3.93

Keep in mind this a broken-down shadow of himself Barkley, sharing the ball with two other Dream Teamers. Scola will be fortunate if he averages half of those numbers - in his prime.

Why does everyone hate the greatest power forward the Rockets have ever had so much? Barkley was the reason the Rockets were finally able to get the Seattle Monkeys off their backs. That alone is ground for jersey retirement, if not sainthood!

Barkley saw the light, repented his sins and joined the good fight.

    BARKLEY = PAUL THE APOSTLE

barkley considers himself a sixer player, so let them retire his jersey, if they haven't done so already.

The Suns retired his jersey too.

Barkley played four years for Phoenix, and four years for Houston.

    Another attempt deflected.

Barkley grabbed 33 boards in his first game for the Rockets. That has to be close to what Horry was pulling down per season (not quite, but it is 10% of his output in the '95 season). If you have a chance to trade role players like Cassell and Horry for a superstar like Barkley, you do it. Passing on that trade would be like saying we shouldn't trade Hayes and Brooks for Tim Duncan because he is past his prime.

#11 Yao Ming, here's my logic, it'd be like MJ, except Yao didn't retire. Yao would be so pimpin' that he'd play with a retired jersey.

all joking aside, if SF3 finishes his career here, definitely retire 3.

Actually, Robert Horry now has seven rings. Actually, I feel that he could care less about whether he gets inducted or not. There are a lot of hall of fame inductees who never got a championship ring in their entire career.

IF the Rockets created a little Rockets Hall of Fame wing or a Ring of Honor, I think we can throw these guys on. Hanging jerseys up is a little more sacred, IMO. To be honest, I'm a little iffy about CD being up there. I don't want it to be a gimmick.

Horry was only here for 4 years. You can't just put up the entire rotation of those championship teams. He meant a ton, but you can't put him up there just because he earned HOF merit on 2 other teams.

Same goes for Barkley. Fun era, but he retired wearing a Sixer cap. He was the face of two other franchises, and was in his sunset years here.

Hayes only played 4 years in Houston, and 3 of them in the twilight of his career. His peak years were with the Bullets, taking them further than he had the Rockets.

Again, I'm not against them being honored, but for your jersey to hang up there, you need to be a face on the Rocket's Mt Rushmore. None of them are. Calvin, Rudy and Dream are. Clyde.....debatable. Cd.....maybe more among insiders than the fans. Yao will be up there. Steve and Tracy have a shot at it if they do something in the next year or two. All the names after that, including Cassell, I'd put on a Wall of Fame in the TC.

Hayes, I'm cool with. I'm not feeling Barkley. He was important to the team but not that important. It'd have been different had we won a championship with him. Horry, definitely not. He's more of a Laker and more of a Spur than he is a Rocket.

Barkley had 4 great HOF type years at Phoenix, Barkley went to the finals with Phenix and Barkley Averaged 23 points with Phoenix. Barkley averaged 16 points with Houston and only even made it to the Western Conference Finalls. No matter how much one likes Barkley (and I do) he still didn't do much more for the Rockets than get past Seattle in his tenure. One could argue Drexler didn't do much more but he did help us win a championship here and he is a Houston Icon. SO that gives him a little more cred than Barkley even it is debatable whether they should have retired his jersey. As for Calvin and Moses those guys are legends who had some of their best years here. Barkley doesn't even come close to either in what he has meant to this franchise.

    AntiSonic,
    Let me explain:
all these rookies and newbies NEVER WATCHED BARKLEY PLAY.
They are basing his ROCKETS PERFORMANCE on his TNT CAREER.

No more retired jerseys for a while you don't want to be the Astros and have half of them water down the true greats
