I don't know where he heard that, but it makes sense. I really don't think there's room for Landry on the 15-man roster. We would probably have to lose Novak to sign Landry, and by sending him to Europe, the Rockets can keep his draft rights without signing him/using a roster space on him. On Fran Blinebury's blog, I remember reading that Morey says the Rockets will likely be done for the offseason if they sign Mutombo.
If I'm not mistaken, I also heard either Blineburry or Feign mention that the rockets wanted to sign Landry as well.
Kurt Thomas was traded by the Suns, I think its doubtful that he'll get cut (I believe he has a pretty big contract too). As for Webber, with our roster the size its already at, I think its doubtful we'll just outright pick someone up - with the exception of Deke. I wouldn't expect many big roster changes from her until the start of the season. If I had to guess, we sign Deke (hopefully), don't give Landry a guaranteed contract, cut Sura, cut Reed, cut Harris, and hopefully trade Lucas for a second round pick. I think Rafer will be on our squad, not sure he'll get much playing time, but I think he'll start the season as a Rocket. All I have to say is, if Snyder is our 12th man or if Rafer is our 12th man...that's a pretty deep bench.
Yeah, right. Can't fault you though. That's what I'd say too if I had posted the incomprehensible, horribly unfunny clusterf*ck of words that your post turned out to be.
The only problem is that I don't see Mitch Kupchak going for that deal. He has made one thing clear concerning Kobe's future which is that he is not going to trade him away. If I am a GM, I wouldn't trade for T-Mac in a heartbeat. Yes, I know that he might be one of the superstars in the league, but his long history of back problems would only scare me away. T-Mac (or any other superstar) can only contribute for a team if he is out on the floor rather than be on the shelf. There is the distinct possibility that back problems could shorten T-Mac's career.
I would really like to see some John Lucas III rumors or something. After all there hasn't been anything lately about that or Deke resigning.
"Superstar?" an overused adjective used to describe players who are not superstars, including tracy mcgrady.
http://blogs.chron.com/franblinebury/2007/08/what_rafer_did_on_his_summer_v.html Fran, When I read various on-line newspapers sites, I noticed that sports journalist use the word Superstar to describe certain players in their beat. But I must say I don't think of that player as a superstar and I believe that word is used too loosely to describe a player. Will you please give me your opinion of the term and maybe name 3 current NBA players you believe are true superstars? Thanks, The Real Private [It's used too often. Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan. --Fran] Posted by: TheRealPrivate at August 30, 2007 09:47 AM
You really should have said you were trying to make a joke. At least that way you could say you wanted to be funny, but unfortunately you weren't. Instead, it appears you wanted to be stupid, and unfortunately you were.
I wasn't joking. The whole VSPAN mess happened in NY, different team, different GM, different players...same old JVG. People who continue to fault VSPAN should understand the breakdown in communication with the GM and refusal to give players minutes are consistent with JVG's way of doing things when he doesn't get what he wants.
I like the idea of getting a PF/C with decent height and length like Brown especially if Deke doesn't resign with us.
Any news on the informal workouts? It would be nice to know who's attending them and how they are doing?
The players who have been going to the toyota center on a regular basis are novak, bonzi (yes bonzi), francis, and james. battier, butler and head have worked out there a couple of times. i expect the others to start rolling in after the labor day holidays, except for yao. pryuen said that the cba is making him participate on the china national team until i believe oct 5th.
Great post! Funny, true and sad all at the same time. Thank god those days might actually be behind us.
