Every week is different. They will be going into Jacksonville on a five-game winning streak. They will feel invincible against the Jags. We all know what happens when our Houston teams have too much confidence and take the opponent lightly.
I agree... 6-10, but not because of luck. Because of the new players, and a tough schedule. First year starting QB, I don't see them winning 7 games. I'm sure they'll look better than they did last year though. Even though they may end up with the same record.
They've improved at three major offensive positions, their defense is a year older and their schedule isn't that hard.
Yeah, but who hasn't improved? You think we've upgraded enough to say we have a better team than the Jags, Titans, or the Colts? So it really makes no difference, unless we keep on getting better and our young players start to grow.
We beat the Jags twice last year and yes, I think we've improved more than the Titans who needed OT to beat us one game last year and barely held on for victory in the other game where our starting QB had the worst game of his terrible career. When did I say I thought we were better than the Colts? I'm pointing out the fact that we've improved major problems off our 2006 team that could've easily been 8-8 (lost two games on the last play of the game).
I was just throwing the Colts in there. I know we beat the Jags twice last year, but Leftwich only played in one of those games. I don't see us beating them twice again this year. Their running game is far superior to ours, and the jags defenese was banged up all last year. They have a great D-Line. And when it comes to QB play, I'd take the experienced Leftwich over Schaub. We'll see. I think the first 6 weeks of the season will be the true test. If we can go 3-3, then I'd say they have a chance at a 8-8 season. At best though, I'd say they go 2-4 the first 6 games. 3 home, 3 away @ CAR, ATL, and JAC. And one of those home games is vs. Indy. I don't think they win those games.
I say 7-9, but they'll be competitive in EVERY game. Hope I'm wrong, though, and the team goes 16-0 in the regular season.
I will predict either 9-7 or 10-6, and it will work to our advantage that everyone will still think we are a horrible team until it's too late...
I dont understand why some people are sayig they have a tough schedule. I think they have an EXTREMELY EASY schedule. LI pointed this out earlier, but they only play 3 teams that were above .500 last year.
Of the 16 games we play, 11 of them are from teams that were .500 or better last year. I dont think our schedule is necessarily that difficult, but I definitely wouldn't say that we have an easy schedule. Its middle of the pack...some tough teams (Indy twice, San Diego, New Orleans) and some easy teams (Cleveland, Oakland, Tampa)...the rest are middle of the pack, like us. It's pretty much as balanced as it comes. *Edit* 6 of our games are against teams above .500 last year: Indy 2x, N.O., KC, Denver, and San Diego.
You know you may have a point early on. I was thinking important to get 2-0 but if we go 4-0, then things can get really interesting for the rest of the season. I think one loss I might add would be at Cleveland. Late November in Cleveland is generally not good weather conditions. 6-10, Mr Dave? LOL. You're just pissed because you all won't have your secret weapon Pac-*** this year and perhaps never! Too bad. Yes, much to your chagrin, Mr Dave this season will have the Titans looking up in the standings to the Texans. Boo hoo hoo! Why? Because the Texans are no longer toting around a wrekked Carr. Instead, we have a spit polished Schaub ready to emerge onto the season. Prediction: Colts 11-5: Tough to repeat after Super Bowl hangover but, they're still Top Dogs for at least one more year in this division. Texans 10-6: Massive improvement in just about every area, key veteran contributions but, will probably miss the playoffs in the last week of the season. We only make the playoffs if our D is in top 10 in NFL. That will be tough to do eventhough, I think we will be at worst a middle of the pack rated defense. Mario, time to step up and prove the critics wrong. Titans 8-8: With VY, they still have a fighting chance even all other else fails but, this could be a generous prediction. If VY cannot elevate his passing game to mimic his playmaking game, it could be a long season in Ass backward Nashville. Jags 7-9: They have done little to improve this club. Reggie Nelson may help at Safety if he stays healthy. Jones-Drew definitely good at RB and they will still have a solid D but, IMO they blew it when they did not take advantage of the opportunity to nab Culpepper. If healthy, Daunte could really take this team places. Now tasked with either Gerrard or Wrong-wich, they're in big trouble with their QB position players bringing up more questions than answers.
