On a side note, TO is just a bad bad fit for the Cowboys. He excels in getting yards after catches and is built for a west coast system, not catching deepballs from Tony Romo. I know jerry jones wanted to make a splash but seriously, bad move.
Congratulations for proving how galactically stupid you and the rest of the Crygirls "fans" are. Worst team over their first 5 seasons, huh? You are a moron. The Texans are 24 and 56 over their first 5 seasons for a winning % of .300 That beats the Falcons (16-51-3, .228), the Broncos (18-49-3, .257), the Saints (18-48-2, .265) and the Bucs (22-53, .293). Before you embarrass yourself again by coming in here and desperately trying to convince yourself (and us) that you really didn't spend Saturday night and early Sunday morning crying yourself to sleep over the fact that the 'girls were utterly decimated by the Texans, you might want go out and learn something. Otherwise you simply reinforce the fact that 'girl fans are nothing more than ignorant, front-running crybabies that throw temper tantrums when they get their asses handed to them. And, by the way, there's one other team that the Texans have been better than over their first 5 seasons (oh, this is gonna be good!)... That's right, dumbass...your Irving Crygirls! 18 wins, 46 losses and 4 ties for a winning % of .265 GAME, SET and MATCH! God, I love knowing that that devastating loss on Saturday is just KILLING you!
fyi, they were planning on playing the starters well into the 3rd quarter regardless of what the Texans did. I actually thought they were going to get one more series, but w/e. Of course, they were also planning on being the team with the most energy on the field, and that certainly did not happen.
Colt45, not sure where you're getting your numbers from...Texans havent been the worst, but teams like Denver and Dallas have had much better records...and 10 win seasons.
2006, Denver and Dallas win 9 games. 2005, Broncos win 13, Dallas wins 9. 2004, Broncos had 10 wins, Dallas with 6. 2003, Dallas and Denver had 10 wins. 2002, Denver with 9, Dallas with 5.
How many wins did Dallas have in their first five years of existence ? That is what he is talking about.
Far be it from me to defend Crackboy fans, but it is kind of silly to talk trash after a preseason game. I personally was more excited about how good we looked than I was about actually winning the game. But Crackboy fans, you have to admit, this wasn't a normal preseason game. The starters played well into the 3rd quarter. And you guys sure were excited about your first 2 PRESEASON wins. You know you were going crazy when TO caught that pass and took it to the house. Admit it. I guess the "it's only preseason" line of thinking only applies if you lose the game. You guys had your excuse already built in. If you won, you would have talked trash for WEEKS. If you lost, you would do what you're doing right now - dwelling on the predictable "we've won Superbowls, you haven't" smack. Along with the "Texans fans are stupid for being excited about a preseason game" nonsense (see post below). Really, you were prepared for winning or losing this game. Look, I think the Crackboys will probably go 9-7 and maybe make the playoffs. But I don't really care. All I care about is my Texans. And I wouldn't be surprised if we did the same thing.
Amazing how much run a meaningless preseason game has gotten on this thread. Then again it's all about the Houston football fan and their continual jealously for what the Cowboys franchise has accomplished since its existence. The only thing Houston football fans have to hang their hat on is the "Love Ya Blue" era, which never sniffed a Super Bowl appearance, and went down in the most embarrassing playoff collapse in NFL history against Buffalo. It must add further insult to injury that the franchise finally made a Super Bowl appearance when it relocated to Tennessee. The Cowboys have experienced some lean years as of late, but they got back to the playoffs last season and seem to be headed in the right direction. The jury is still out on whether the Texans are improved or not. Let's not get carried away and make any judgements based on a meaningless exhibition game. Kudo's to the Texans for beating the hated franchise up I-45 in an exhibition game, but remember the rivalry is all one sided.
The Cowboys played horrible and TO had 1 f'n catch...That's just not going to get it done...Romo was erratic and seemed to never be set when he threw the balll...I was impressed on how the Texans O played and gives promise...Should be a good season that's long over due... It's only a preseason game, but you know how the Dallas vs. Houston thing goes...
If it is such a meaningless game...why do you keep coming back to post? If it means nothing to the Cowboys and yourself, why do you care so much? Lean years as of late? Ya'll haven't won a playoff game in over 10 years!! Sure the Texans have been crap their first 5 seasons, but WE'VE WON THE EXACT SAME NUMBER OF PLAYOFF GAMES since the franchise was born. And for a team that "always seems to be a Super Bowl contender," isn't playoff wins all that matters? The Cowboys do seem to be headed in the right direction, but you have to admit...so do the Texans. Not sure how many Texan games you've watched yourself, but anyone that has remotely followed this team will tell you that we are in fact heading that way.
If it is such a meaningless game...why do you keep coming back to post? If it means nothing to the Cowboys and yourself, why do you care so much? Good point. I'm done here.
Fact, the Cowboys played their starters a 1/2 a quarter longer than the Texans. Fact, the Texans were better than the Cowboys in every aspect of the only preseason game that matters Fact, Cowboys fans are still pissed off because Reliant Stadium no longer accepts Lonestar cards
"it means nothing to the Cowboys" signed Wade Phillips (who played some starters into the 4th quarter while the Texans had pulled all of theirs by the 7 minute mark of the third) signed Cowboy Fan (the guy who's kids will have to go without meals for parts of the next few weeks because of tickets and TO jerseys he had to buy)
Backing Down by WildSweet&Cool August 28, 2007 It's meaningless, right? The preseason game of Dallas at Houston doesn't have any statistical significance to the final outcome of either team's season record. Neither team left their starting crew on the field for the entire game. In relation to the NFL season, yes. It's meaningless. But that's where the futility ends. Now that we have that formality out of the way, let's talk about the real world for a moment. In this world, the game meant a lot. Not as much as an NFL championship, but certainly a lot more than a standard preseason game. This game wasn't about a team competing against a league full of 32 teams. It wasn't about winning a title. It wasn't about being the best team in the world. It was a one-on-one grudge match. It was me versus you to see which of the two is better. Dallas fans don't seem to recognize this. They continue to reiterate that this was a meaningless preseason game. They say that they don't feel a rivalry with Houston. They talk about the previous years in which Dallas has won championships or, more recently, finished the season with better records than the Texans. All of that is true, and can't be disputed. But there's more to it than that. This game was far from meaningless. It wasn't meaningless to the 70,512 fans that bought tickets, tailgated, and yelled their heads off. It also meant a lot to the countless people that watched from home. Ask the coaches and players of the Texans OR the Cowboys if the game was meaningless to them. The truth is, every Cowboy fan that watched that game wanted Dallas to win, and every Texan fan that watched the game wanted Houston to win. That's a simple fact. Dallas fans don't feel a rivalry? Guess what? Houston is calling out Dallas. They're challenging the Cowboys. Why do you think the "Governor's Cup" was brought out? Why do you think so many people showed up to a preseason game? The question is, is Dallas going to answer the challenge? They should - they're going to the play the game whether they feel a rivalry or not, and because of that, a better team will be determined whether Dallas is interested or not. Wouldn't a competitor respond to such a challenge? Wouldn't a champion? Isn't that a statement about the attitude of the Cowboys today, compared to the Cowboys of old? The Cowboys have some incredible history. They tie with San Francisco and Pittsburgh for having the most Super Bowl wins (5). They hold the record for most consecutive wins (20 wins from 1966 to 1985) and the most seasons with at least 10 wins (24). They've been to the playoffs more than any other team (28 times) and have the played the most postseason games (54). That's pretty impressive. But for a team that's 47 years old, those are only its highlights. There are other ways to look at the numbers. In Dallas' first season, starting in 1960, the Cowboys achieved zero wins. The Texans won four games in their first season. In fact, the Texans are the first team in NFL history to win their inaugural game... and they won it against the Cowboys. The Texans have been around for five years, and their winning percentage for the first five years is .300. That doesn't sound very impressive. But it's not as bad as Dallas' winning percentage for their first five years (.281). The two teams have played each other three times - twice in preseason, once in the regular season. Dallas won the regular season game and Houston has won both of the preseason games. You could say that Dallas won the game that had meaning in the NFL. But in the grudge match, Houston has the edge on Dallas 2 -1. Houston has never been to the playoffs. But in the past ten years, the best playoff pushes Dallas has been able to muster have been four Wild Card Playoff games, and Dallas lost all four of those games. Remember how I mentioned that the Texans' inaugural game was against Dallas? Why not the Bengals? Or the Chargers? Do you think that it was just a coincidence that it was against Dallas? Cowboys fans can keep their head in the sand, pretending that the rivalry doesn't exist. But Houston's challenge isn't going away. Dallas can either face the challenge, or back down from it. So far, they're backing down.
This is a bunch of non-sense. This is like Rockets fans thinking Spurs fans are so concerned with the Rockets, or Mavs fans in the 90's thinking Rockets fans cared about the Mavs. Or maybe the best example is in college football where you're someone else's rival but they aren't yours. Tech vs. UT for example. It's a big game for Tech, and a *fun* game for UT, but UT doesn't get all amped up for it. Dallas has no reason to care about the Texans at this point. And really, the two teams have little rivalry in general since the two are in different conferences and only play each other every several years. It's kind of like the Rangers and Astros - it's a fun, friendly competition, but a true rivalry is the result of (a) a relatively long history (b) one team affecting the other's goals - whether that be preventing them from winning a division or making the playoffs or whatever. Texans vs. Cowboys is basically a forced rivalry with nothing behind it. It's great for Texans fans because they really have no natural rivals at this point, but I'd imagine Dallas fans care a lot more about their rivalries with the Redskins, Eagles, and Giants. It can be sort of interesting in the regular season with the Texans, but the freaking preseason? No way in hell. As a Rockets fan, do we care if we win or lose a preseason game against the Spurs or Jazz?
I find it hard to believe that any expansion team could be worse than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They went 0-26 in their first 2 seasons of existence and did not win their first game until 1977. As bad as the Texans have been, they have never been that bad.
I agree, but I have to admit even though there's no rivalry it's still sweet to beat Dallas because I hate the Cowboys. And, the Texans are building a nice little history with J-ville. Hell YES I care about beating the Jazz! Beat them in the preseason. Beat them in the regular season. Beat their rookies with our rookies in that whatever-it-is-league where Brooks was looking so good earlier. There are some organizations--an axis of evil--that you just have to beat. Period. You go to Disney in March, you beat the Braves. Beat 'em down. Because they're evil. Never lose to the Braves. Or the Mets. Or the freaking Jazz. Or the Cowboys. NEVER.
