That's a cop-out and most likely untrue. I was at the game, and the Cowboys players looked just as fired up as the Texans players, both in the game itself and on the sideline (of which I was right behind). Face it: The Texans were the better team that day.

    Vescey-

Definetly, that is why they won

Face it, we are far better overall.

Also, can you really say that of the two teams, the Texans and the Cowboys, and the two cities, Houston and Dallas, that Houston and the Texans were not far more amped and prepped for this game?

Crackboy fans already had their built in "it's just preseason" excuse ready to go before the game even started, just in case they lost. You can bet they would be singing a different tune had they won the game.

At the place I watched the game, you should have heard how loud they got after TO's meaningless TD. You would have thought it was the Superbowl or something. They didn't seem to care that it was just a preseason game at that point...

BTW, since the Texans came into existence, they have won as many playoff games as Dallas has in that same time period. Just a little FYI... :)

Well, based on the hit that the Cowboys defense put on Owen Daniels the first play of the game, and all the jawing they were doing after it, I would say both teams were just as amped. It's just that after Jacoby Jones's TD, and lack of firepower from the Cowboys offense, all the Dallas enthusiasm went away. That's called CONTROLLING THE GAME.

Thanks for coming in here when most of your fellow fans have conveniently gone silent today or made bumbling excuses.
Actually, we have had much more patience than most. We patiently waited with little objection while Casserly drove this franchise into the ground, kept our cool when Capers kept coaching like it was the 60s, and gave Carr 5 years before demanding his exit. You may be right about the desperation given that we've been waiting 5 years for a winning franchise, but the patience has been there. Even with the win Saturday, most of us are still predicting a .500 record an a playoff miss this season (as opposed to Cowboy fans predicting a Super Bowl trip after the Denver pre-season game).
I think the 'girls came in amped, evidenced by some big celebrations after their few positive plays. They just got punched in the mouth early and never came back with much.
As for as shooting our load, I think you're wrong about this, but I'd rather shoot it early on this win than on a TD before a botched extra point.
A little celebration at the expense of our rival city to the North is to be expected. :D

It was a freaking preseason game for crying out loud! I doubt either team really gives a rat's a$$ about the Governor's Cup. So many of the Texan fans are beating their chest like they won the damn Superbowl, and Cowboy fans that talked smack before the game are just as stupid.

I have a female employee who went to the game who is a Cowboy's fan who wore a Cowboys jersey and got called names I can't even repeat on this board. Way to show your lack of class Houston fans. Sure I can understand a little good natured ribbing, but the stuff she got called was over the top and uncalled for.

Enjoy your Governor's Cup Texan fans!

The game didn't mean anything .... statistically.

But it sure as hell meant something to the 70,000 people who showed up.

In the games that Texans have played Cowboys, Texans lead 2 - 1. Maybe Dallas doesn't show up to win in these rivalry games, but the Texans certainly do.

I think rivalry only exists for Houston. I don't think there is enough history between the two teams to call it a rivalry. The media tries to sell everyone on the in state thing, but it obviously means alot more to Houston fans seeing how they've never won anything in modern history.

"Any doubt that the Texans would be a rivalry went away with their first franchise game." - Jerry Jones (paraphrase)

Ofcourse Jerry Jones is going to make it sound like a rivalry, he wants to sell out meaningless preseason games for the same price as regular season games. Believe me it's alot bigger deal to Houston than it is to Dallas.

The Texans are the worst NFL team ever for the span of their first 5 or 6 years (whatever it is)

I would not look at the fact that the Cowboys and Texans both have 0 playoff wins in the last (whatever) years, so do a lot of other teams.

You guys were better on Saturday, no doubt. Hats off, I hope Schaub is good, because I sincerely would like to like the Texans. But they are a loser, you cannot debate that, when they start to win, we can start to debate which is the more legitamate NFL franchise.

    Exactly.

Sure, the Texans were probably more amped to play, but they were the home team, playing in front of their fans, so the enthusiasm was expected. Those of you (i.e. all Cowboys fans) thinking the Cowboys weren't fired up to play this game are seriously deluding yourselves. Judging from the hits, the celebrations, and the way the team acted on the sidelines, it was clear the Cowboys wanted this game bad. But if that doesn't convince you, then ask yourself this: If the Cowboys truly didn't care about this game, then why were the Cowboys' starters in the game longer than the Texans' first unit?

    The defense rests.

Vescey, honestly you are wrong. Its a game, they are competitors, of course the Cowboys wanted it more. But who needed it more? Not Us. And I still say the Texans wanted it more, that does not take the win away from them, nor the fact they played better. It just means that it there situation, the win was more meaningful. Think about it, it was es importante just for Super Mario to get a sack.

Why don't the Cowgirl fans just go root for the Mavs as well? Oh..thats right...... The Mavs have not won as many championships as the Rockets. You will be the same people that if hell freezes over and the Rangers win a title will never follow the Stros again. I love ALL Houston teams win or lose.

Why are the cowboys yours and the Rockets are yours as well? Are you a yankee fan as well? Do you live in Houston or Dallas? I would hope you somehow live right in the middle and can choose your team. Otherwise you are a bandwagon jumper. If you were an Oiler fan that chose the dark side...I feel even worse. I would rather root for the Titans  . Thats impossible for me tho...I had no football for years. The only team I could root for was the one that was playing the cowgirls.

Once again, why did the Cowboys leave their starters in longer then?

It's funny how Texans fans finally have something to be excited about (and why wouldn't we not be considering how poorly we've performed in the past, the fact we look like we have a real team for a change and we beat our most hated rivals in a gamer in which the starters played into the 3rd quarter) and Cowboys fans want to downplay it with excuses. Hey, we realize it's preseason but that doesn't mean we can't sit here and discuss a really positive step we seem to have taken. Spare us the "The Texans wanted it more" , excuses please. If you think the Cowboys didn't want to win the game as much as we did then you're incorrect (or your team lacks heart this season). It's one of the two.

We are all dissapointed in Mario. making comments about him really doesn't effect us. Like AB pointed out, you guys have the same amount of Playoff wins as we do. Also, I'd be a tad concrened that Romo continues to "come back to earth." He missed TO on two deepballs badly. Also, your vaunted defense made our OL look like the Denver Broncos so say what you will. Someone else already made the point after TO scored (the crowd reaction as well as the players) so it just doesn't fly with me. Both teams tried, the Cowboys got beat.

I'm excited about this Texans team. I think they're much better then i thought they'd be and it will be at least an enjoyab;e season for fans. Go Texans, Cowboys suck!
