Finally finished downloading the demo earlier today, although it wouldn't start up on my PC for some reason. Not sure if it is an issue on my end (have had a few glitches in other places), or if it is an issue with the game (heard some people have had issues with this I think?), but I don't really feel like messing with it right now. Instead, I tried the game on my dad's PC (can't remember all his specs, but he has a nice PC, including a DX10 card), and it worked fine. I pretty much have the same impressions that I gave earlier from watching the videos, although now I can complement the nice gameplay the game has. It was only a demo, but I did really enjoy the gameplay mechanics, especially the hacking stuff. I can see myself having a lot of fun with that in the full version. Once I get the demo working on my PC and seeing how it runs (should run very well I think, but I still want to test it out), I'll start considering a purchase.
Got the game today. Lets just say its... Different. I like it though. Pretty hard to kill those damn big daddy's.
Yep, not my favorite game. But it's fun. Although to me, it's not "hooking"....that is. It's not like crack, I can infact put it down with out plaing it hour after hour after hour. It's fun, and graphics are ok. But I guess the genre isn't my kind of game. Can't wait till Assassins creed.
I had about 50% of it downloaded last night to my xbox when my internet connection crapped out on me.
finally got around to buying it today (luckily had it reserved and heard that 20 people begged for my copy) i played a couple hours, longer than i thought i would. each time i told myself i would turn it off at a certain time, i looked up and the time was way past. im speechless and was literally best game i have played in a loooong time, easily p.s. the big daddys spanked me... (where are those damn hints now)
Well, beat it on Medium difficulty today. Got the "good" ending. Was kind of disappointing that the whole game rocks so hard but the last bodd fight was actually pretty easy and the ending is like 45 seconds long. Still though, a great game. Going to go back and play it on hard difficulty and get the "bad" ending. Once that's done, I'll go back and work hard on Rogue Galaxy (PS2) until .Hack//G.U. Vol. 3 comes out. That should keep me busy until Halo 3, which will keep me busy until Guitar Hero 3, which I'll play alongside Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed, then Rock Band comes out..... I will have no spare time between now and roughly March.
Hey, quick heads up for everybody who's playing this on PC; this game has some of the most stringent DRM protection ever seen. According to this thread, the game can only be installed on two computers or two OSs at a time. Two. Basically, you get two "install credits" when you buy the box. You use one up when you install the game, and you get one back when you uninstall. So if your Hard Drive ever gets a virus, or requires a wipe where you can't uninstall the program, say goodbye forever to one of those credits. If you ever reformat your drive and forget to uninstall, you lose a credit. Make more than one mistake of this nature, and you've got a $50 coaster. Also, be very careful buying a used copy; there's no way you can tell whether you've got your full two install credits until it's too late. Finally, if SecuROM, the security company hired by 2K, ever goes out of business or pulls support for the game, good luck ever reinstalling. Honestly; finding out about how deep DRM got its tentacles into this masterpiece is more disappointing than not being able to run it...
Just wondering but would my computer be capable of running the game fairly smoothly? Radeon X600, Pentium CPU 3.2 GHz, 2 GB of RAM.
Man I love this game!!! I believe it took me around 8 hrs to get to the 4th level, I know i'm a slow player but you would be too with this game dark enviroment.
OK, I bought it for the XBox, but may take it back for the PC version, which is better, and more fun to play it on? For instance I thought Oblivion was much better on the PC. DD
I beat it on medium, now im trying hard. My friend keeps yelling at me for retracing my steps and checking every room with a keen eye. Gotta get all of those diaries.
Nope. Your graphics card is the kiss of death. The X*** series (ie. X600) doesn't have pixel shader v3.0 which is needed to run the game. You have to get an X**** series (ie. X1300) in order to run the game. The sad thing is that comparable (and somewhat inferior) NVidia cards were made with pixel shader v3.0 and can play the game just fine. I've got an X800GTO, so I'm in the same boat.
Yep, those are even older. I had a 9600 before I upgraded to my X800GTO. Even if your 9600 had pixel shader v3.0, I imagine BioShock would chew it up and spit it out. I think it's about a 4 year old card, maybe 5.
I just started playing this today on my PC and I really like the graphics but I'm a slow player/investigative player who hates to leave stuff behind so I don't think this game will work for me. I just can't leave a room/area without inspecting everything! but this game is too creepy and random attacking to do it that way!
