i don't care what you say. i've lived in US most of my life. i'm educated here. it really doesn't matter what people in taiwan says. you guys are basically pawns in the world super power struggle. taiwan is a part of china forever. the only way for taiwan to become independent is, there are no more chinese left in the world. as long as i'm alive, i won't let that happen. if yall get in my way ... i will leave that to your imagination.

I was born and raised here in the US and happen to be Chinese.

This whole issue is a touchy subject. If you say one thing for one side, the other will want to rip your head off. But it's fun, so I'll throw my opinion into the mix.

Taiwan is already a self-governing province. They hold their own elections and even have their own president. I won't even mention the chaos and craziness of the DPP vs. Kuomingtang etc....that's a whole other debate. It is not necessary for Taiwan to be an independent country.

I am for keeping Chinese culture unified. I hate it when I ask people "Are you Chinese?" and they say "No, I'm Taiwanese." Some even have to mention "No, I'm not a Communist." That's absolutely ridiculous. Just because I say I'm Chinese doesn't make me a Communist. Chinese is a people. The only "real" Taiwanese are the aboriginal peoples of that island. The language "Taiwanese" is just the language of Fujian province from the mainland. (Fujian is the province closest to Taiwan.) We are one peoples, but Taiwanese don't seem to like that fact.

The news that Taiwan is now refusing entry to Yao Ming is pretty ridiculous. I thought sports brought countries together. Even refusing the Pandas is ridiculous. Taiwan has always been characterized by this ridiculousness.

Go ahead and make everything political you "Taiwanese." If it's fun for you. go for it. A lot of people arguing for Taiwanese independence don't even know what/why they are arguing.
